While waiting for my flight home, sitting at a Wetherspoon at 7 in the morning, I figured i’d blog about some of the loveliest days i’ve had here in Edinburgh - the post-exams! All of the stress and hard work that i’ve felt on my shoulders for the past month or so has finally been dusted off. With this, I have become increasingly more excited for the Christmas season - being able to have free time has finally gifted me the ability to do my shopping for the holidays. Monday at 9:30 was my last exam, so the rest of that day was spent relaxing, buying a few new books (and having the time to kick back and read 100 pages of them), feeling the holiday spirit at the Christmas markets here in Edinburgh, and ending the night with watching Love Actually for the first time. Not only was this a perfect day in itself, but I got to catch up with two of my dearest friends here at uni (if you’re reading this lauren and em, i cannot wait to come back and give you both a big squeeze!) As a Christmas fanatic, I HIGHLY recommend the markets, especially the stand selling adorable little Dutch pancakes with Nutella.
Now sitting here on my way home, I have to say - despite being very obviously excited and eager to see my loved ones and the great state of Massachusetts, I feel a pang of sadness leaving my new city. Little did I know, i’ve totally fallen in love with Edinburgh, more than I guess I realized. I think that over the holidays I will sit down and write a more comprehensive reflection of first term just to do justice to my experience as an American in Scotland thus far. As for now, I love you Scotland, and i’ll see you in a couple of weeks.
Cheers!
