Magic / powered whumpees getting their powers taken away before being imprisoned is all cool and good, but you know what I like more than that? Situations where it’s impossible / undesirable to take away Whumpee’s powers, and instead a prison built specially to hold them and their powers must be created.
TW: medical whump, captivity
Fire-breathing whumpee kept submerged head to toe in cold water, a tube and mask keeping them breathing with barely enough oxygen.
Whumpee that can manipulate water kept in a cell that feels like an oven, constantly drying any condensation, the only water they’re given being in the form of injections while they sleep.
Super strong whumpee bound with reinforced chains or cords that individually they could easily break- too bad there’s dozens of them, wrapped around every limb, around their waist, their neck, across their chest in an X.
Psychic whumpee forced to wear a helmet that blocks their brain waves, trapping them inside their own head. Additionally, a psychic whumpee that needs to know their surroundings in order to interact with them being subjected to sensory deprivation.
Whumpee whose power comes from their emotions being restrained to a hospital bed while an IV drip fills their bloodstream with sedative, emotion-dulling chemicals that put them in a stupor.
Whumpee with ocular powers made to wear a thick blindfold that doesn’t let even a trace of light through, kept on them for so long they start to forget what their captors’ faces look like.
Just. Whumpee in a cell specifically designed for them, knowing that their captor has planned for any contingency. They won’t be getting out easily.
In any other situation, their power would rip through these bindings and they run.
Superspeed, but the doors locked. What now? Put them in a particle accelerator, good luck doing your stupid 'fazing through walls' trick now.
Ice powers? Their partners dying of hypothermia. Stuck in a too hot room. Stuck in an absolute zero room, no way to make it colder. Can't freeze the lock, its already as cold as its going to get.
Heat powers? Same thing, put that fucker in a volcano. Good luck finding your way through 8,000 feet of lava. Or an incinerator, yeah, just try and melt that lock off. Oh whumpee? They have a fever and your emotions are haywire, hope you can get that water to them without it evaporating.
Superstrength? Fighting a cotton powered villain. What are they gonna do, punch their way through pillows?
It's so fun.
It's funny if its for mundane things too.
Yeah, of course superstrength can move your entire apartment belongs in one trip. What's that? You want help building a bookshelf from Wal-Mart. They've never seen a screwdriver in their life.
You want a coffee run? Okay, but you better fine with no coffee left in the cup afterward. Just because they can run faster than light, doesn't mean liquid stops obeying physics.
Want the lights a different color? Just ask. You want them to fix the wiring in your remote? Why would they know anything about that?
Fun. The possibilities of powers being absolutely useless in everyday life is just good soup to me.
Mind reading is often viewed as a powerful ability, and rightfully so, but can you imagine the whump potential it has?
The whumpee can, at all times, collectively hear the thoughts of everyone around them. They can't control it, just how we can't choose which sounds our ears pick up.
Imagine them in a room packed with people, hearing everyone's internal monologue. The words are indistinguishable, blurring into loud white noise that makes their head feel like it's going to explode. They can't block it out, even if they curl up clutching their head and covering their ears. They try anyway.
When people compliment them, reassure them, offer them a kind word, they can always hear their true thoughts, how much they don't really mean it, and are just saying it to shut them up.
Their power is creepy, it's intrusive. Nobody wants to have their thoughts read, so whumpee is pushed away and ostracized. Nobody will call them a freak out loud, but whumpee knows.
They find peace in loneliness, in silence. After a while, their skin stops craving human contact. After all, if everyone views them as a monster, that's probably what they are.

After Whumpee's betrayed and beaten by their team, Caretaker rescues them.
1.2k words
CWs: past beating, past betrayal, aftermath of a beating, past captivity, past choking, past stabbing, implied torture, emeto
Whumpee crawls out of the sewer and slumps against a shop door, hand pressed to their throbbing ribs, now broken as well as slashed, blinking away pained tears. They'd expected some sort of response to their return – suspicion maybe, they'd understand that, relief or joy even. They'd hoped for treatment for their injuries. They are... were friends, after all. But not... not this.
Not a beating as bad as Whumper often gave them. Not for Leader, who took them under his wing, who they looked up to for years, to punch them as soon as he saw them. Not for Teammate, their so-called 'best friend', to look at them coldly as they lay on the floor and demand to know what they'd betrayed, knuckles bloody.
Whumper called them an animal, a nothing. They didn't realise their team would feel the same way.
They thought Whumper broke them, when he finally conditioned them to stop reacting to hits, to call him Sir and thank him for the pain. But apparently there was a part of them left that still hoped. Hoped for a reunion, friendly voices, to belong again in a place that wasn't a cell.
A part of them left to break.
Not any longer though. That's gone.
Whumpee runs a wet hand down their aching face. Are there– they thought that muzzle scarred. It certainly felt like it dug in enough to.
Did it not? Or did their team just not care?
Whumpee groans and closes their eyes, whole body throbbing. They really took a pounding back there. Oh, their team left them alone, of course, once they were thoroughly beaten down. Left them in a cell, probably to come back to the next day. Without even any restraints.
Whumpee snorts at that, then claps a broken hand to his head. If they'd bothered to care about what happened to him, they'd never have left him unrestrained. They're not as hopeless at escapology as they once were. But they did.
They did, because they didn't care.
Whumpee needs to move soon, before their former team comes out looking for their prisoner. But they really can't summon up the energy to. What do they have left, after all? Where can they go? All they had was the hope of seeing their team again, and that's gone now.
"You realise you're leaving a trail of blood, darlin'? I can follow you all the way to your HQ."
Whumpee looks up to see someone standing on the opposite doorstep, wearing a black trenchcoat and hat, and smoking a cigarette. He pushes himself off the wall and stubs out his cigarette when he sees Whumpee's face.
"What the 'ell 'appened to you?"
Belatedly, Whumpee realises that they didn't bother to wipe their face. Their teammates earlier didn't notice anything was wrong, why the fuck would anyone else?
Apparently, someone else would.
"None of your business. Just fuck off."
The man frowns. "Your voice. You been choked lately?"
Whumpee feels a lump in their throat, and holds still as the man approaches, tracing the air above their sensitive, bruising throat. Their hands twitch to use their powers and hold the man off but they've learned over the past two months what happens if they even appear to be using them. So they just watch, warily, as the man touches their bruises lightly.
It's a kinder touch than they've had in months. This stranger is being kinder than their own team and they don't trust it.
"The fuck are you doing?"
"Making sure you can still breathe right, since you ain't doin' it."
"You can't tell that from... that."
"Sure I can. Dunno why I bothered though, it's clear from the arguing that you can. Didn't you 'ave some sorta power last time we met?"
"We've never met."
The man shrugs with an air of deliberate nonchalance. "If you say so." Whumpee slumps forward, suddenly drained, and the man puts a hand on his chest, holding him upright. "Woah. Easy there darlin'. Want help gettin' back 'ome?"
"'m not– not going back to base. And I'm not helping you either. Just to be clear. I'm done with this fight. I've been on both sides and neither's worth it. So either kill me or leave, I'm no use to you."
"Oh no you don't, darlin'. Well, you don't have to fight, but you'll die if you stay here. And I'm not lettin' you die... Whumpee, isn't it?"
"Maybe. Who are you?"
"Caretaker. Well, that's not my real name o'course, but maybe if you stay long enough you'll find it out. So. You comin'?"
Whumpee pauses, looking the man up and down. He looks... sincere, but not honest, although Whumpee themself isn't always honest either. Technically, he's also their enemy, but they don't really have any allies left.
And he's right. They will die if they stay here, if not now then as soon as their team finds them. Or maybe not as soon as. Maybe the team will beat them up some more first. They nod, regretting it as their head throbs.
"Fine. I'll come."
Caretaker grins. "Excellent. Can you walk?"
"I don't–" Whumpee tries to lever themself up against a wall and falls with a yelp as they try to put weight on their ankle and an agonising pulse runs up their leg. "Maybe not."
"Well, I'm gonna have to carry you then. 'old still." Caretaker hefts Whumpee into his arms, cursing as he stumbles. "You eaten anythin' lately? Cos it sure don't feel like it."
"Not for a while," mumbles Whumpee, clamping their lips shut as their stomach roils and everything hurts from the jolting. "'m gonna be sick."
"Well don't do it on my coat, it's already got your blood on it. Far too much in fact. You been stabbed?"
"Slashed," murmurs Whumpee, before retching. Caretaker tips them sideways so their bile falls onto the pavement, waiting patiently for them to finish.
"You done?"
"F'r now."
"Well, can you hold on until you're not gonna throw up on my favourite coat?"
"Probably?"
"That'll do." And Caretaker takes off walking at a brisk pace. Whumpee slumps against his chest, unable to hold themself up anymore. Even if this man does mean harm, they're in no shape to defend themself. No point bothering to try.
"Dammit darlin'. Hold on just a lil bit longer, come..."
Caretaker's voice fades, along with the rest of the world.
_
Whumpee half-wakes to the sound of voices.
"How are they?"
"They'll live, boss. And their wings should grow back, if the latest research is correct. But it's weird."
"What is?"
"I did an MRI scan to check the state of their brain, because I needed to see what that knock did to it, and it looks like someone's been meddling with it. There's energy traces in there. It's not just a concussion causing problems."
There's a growl. "Someone with powers has been inside their brain?"
"Yes, boss."
""That's... that's why they don't remember me, int it?"
Whumpee groans, wanting to ask what's going on, why Caretaker sounds so unbearably sad, but their mouth won't obey and nor will their eyes and before they can try to move their aching body, the world fades again.
When they wake, they won't remember this conversation at all.

Could I get prompts for a telekinetic whumpee? Especially one conditioned by their whumper into accepting the abuse?
Oooh, sure! This is a good one, I do love me some whumpees with potentially dangerous powers.
- At first, Whumpee can hardly control their powers. In a sense, it’s because of a lack of trying-- They’re terrified of their abilities, terrified of how unnatural they how, the potential they have to hurt others. So, they hide them. Maybe if they don’t use them, if they let them rust, they will eventually wither.
- When Whumper captures them, Whumpee tries to pretend that they don’t have powers at all, that they have no clue what Whumper is talking about. Of course, enough beatings quickly take that out of them. They start to learn to use their powers, as much as they hate it.
- Whumpee is terrified of their own powers. They have nightmares about them, of the world around them collapsing because they couldn’t control themself. Watching objects float before them, under their control, is nearly enough to make them have a panic attack.
- Whumper’s goal is to turn Whumpee into a weapon, and on this they waste no time. They treat Whumpee like a dog-- Forcing them to sleep in a cage and eat without the use of their hands. The collar around their neck is a constant reminder
- At first, Whumpee fights. Once or twice, they try to escape-- After all, given their ability to take things apart, they can undo any lock. They can escape, they have the physical power, but after dozens of beatings and whippings and sessions of starvation, they give up.
- Whumpee gives up.
- When their training is over, they have stopped speaking. They are a weapon, through and through. They have no qualm sleeping in the kennel, and no longer does the door even have to be locked.
- When they’re at last rescued, they have no clue how to act. They sleep on the floor. They eat like an animal. Caretaker has a long, long road ahead of them...
Villain’s fingers are cold against Hero’s skin, the gentle massage on their shoulders raising goosebumps along their entire body, making them hate themself for thinking that the feeling isn’t entirely unpleasant.
It should be. It is. But it also isn’t.
Hero takes a few heartbeats, but they yank themself away from Villain’s hands, whirling around to face them.
“Isn’t it enough for you to have stolen my powers? You want me to lose my mind as well now?”
The words come out bitter, carrying the taste of hatred and the pain of loss.
“You look tense, darling,” Villain purrs, tilting their head to the side, a smile playing on their lips. “If we’re going to give the people a spectacle, you need to be a little looser. I’m helping you out.”
“If you want to help me out, give me back my powers.”
Villain rolls their eyes and sighs. “You know I won’t do that. Now, are you ready for our performance? Don’t forget what’s at stake here.”
How could they? Sidekick’s bruised face, tied up hands and scared eyes are burned into their memory, the certainty that their life depends on Villain’s goodwill a heavy and unforgettable weight on their back. On their heart.
Hero doesn’t respond. They don’t have to – everything, from the fear to the anger to the defeat, is written across their face. Villain smirks. “Let’s put up a show, then.”
They have no choice but to follow as Villain opens the balcony doors and steps out into the light, dozens of cameras aimed straight at their faces from the town square below, hundreds of people staring, thousands watching from behind the lenses, locked on every breath they take as they stop in front of the crowd.
“People of the city, behold your future!” Villain says, voice loud and clear, proud. Hero grits their teeth to prevent the warning that bubbles up from escaping, and tries not to feel the weight of the shackles around their wrists, keeping them bound together in front of them. In front of everyone else, too.
It starts as a tug at their very soul. A brush of cold fingertips on that pit of glowing magic only them should have access to. They know it is useless, but Hero still tries to resist. With every ounce of willpower and raw desperation, they struggle, writhe against that cruel inevitability, but Villain’s smile doesn’t so much as falter as they do. It doesn’t have to, anyway. It’s done before it even starts, and Hero nearly cries out when the power surfaces against their will, when it bursts out of their clenched fingers in an explosion of gold that envelops the world.
The worst part of it all is that Hero doesn’t move as they are invaded and violated, as their magic is wielded by another. That’s what really brings them close to tears. The helplessness of it all, of knowing that if they move, if they yell for help, Sidekick is the one who’ll suffer. So Hero looks down at their feet and tries to keep standing as a shiver runs down their spine and their magic surrounds every person around them.
“You can surrender to me, or you can suffer the consequences of your sweet hero’s powers, for they are mine now,” Villain declares. “Kneel, and I’ll be merciful. Fight, and I won’t hesitate.”
Stunned silence fills every vacant space throughout the square. Shock emanates from the crowd, as well as fear. Hero pretends not to see the faces that show judgment as well, aimed directly at them. For not being strong enough to stop Villain.
But instead of kneeling, one person takes a step forward.
“I will never bow to you,” the person says, and spits on the ground from the floor below, but in Villain’s direction nonetheless.
They frown, and Hero takes a step forward, fear shining in their eyes, thrumming along with their heart in anticipation.
Before they can do anything – collapse to the ground, scream for them to comply, ask for help, anything –, Villain grabs them from behind and pulls Hero flush against their body, warm breath tickling their neck.
“None of that, now, darling. Let’s show the world what we can do together, shall we?”
When the power wraps around the rebel’s throat, a wave of shock so strong washes over Hero, they do not react. They stand there, unable to move, with Villain’s arms wrapped around them and Sidekick’s life in their hands, watching as their own magic makes the civilian choke and fall to the ground scratching their throat.
“Please,” Hero rasps out, wide eyes locked on the figure squirming on the pavement. “Villain, please, please stop this, I’ll do anything.”
Villain chuckles against their skin. “I like it when you beg, love. Only because you asked so nicely...”
The power retreats and the person is left panting in front of everyone, Hero’s breaths almost as hitching as theirs, chest as tight as the civilian’s throat was. Maybe even more.
“Anyone else wants to say something?” Villain asks as they let go of Hero, only their heavy hand left on their shoulder. Grounding, threatening.
The crowd falls to their knees almost in tandem. The hand on their shoulder squeezes, and Hero reads the words in Villain’s eyes. You too.
They kneel, and the thud of their knees hitting the ground echoes inside of them, a sound of shame and defeat. Villain grins as they stare at the kneeling people, but their eyes keep coming back to Hero’s lost expression, to the despair so clear in their face, as intense as the triumph in Villain’s.
Villain doesn’t tell them to get up, so no one does – the threat of having the power that once kept them safe turned against them keeps the people still as statues.
It doesn’t last more than a minute, but Hero feels like they are years older when Villain finally allows everyone to get up.
They don’t hear the speech Villain gives. They don’t see the anger on the faces that dare look at them. All Hero does is stare at the ground, where there are no cameras to record their humiliation, no blameful eyes and scared faces they know will haunt them forever.
When Villain finishes and leads them back inside, Hero lets them. Their power is still surrounding every living being around them, and even though they can’t control it anymore, they can still feel the magic swirling around the people, a beautiful threat they had once loved.
The doors close, the eyes left outside, and then there’s just Villain, grinning like a wolf at the misery emanating from Hero, the hopelessness.
“What now?” they ask through gritted teeth, afraid they might start crying at any moment.
“Now, love,” Villain says, tilting Hero’s face toward theirs with soft fingers, “I will take over the world. And you will be right by my side as I do it.”
Whumpee who was afraid of using their powers, but finally using Magic against whumper? I just wanna see whumper get wrecked.
Oh anon you have given me IDEAS-
The whumper tries to appeal to the whumpee’s morals that they had held before before realizing that they tore them apart- the whumpee wont have mercy on them.
The whumpee is scared of how much they enjoy to see the whumper trembling, maybe everyone was right about how dangerous they were, but they didn’t care anymore.
The whumpee is determined to take revenge, they’re going to turn the overconfident whumper into a bruised and bleeding mess. They don’t even realize that they’re using their powers at first.
Whumper pushing Whumpee to the brink using torturing of all kinds, just so that Whumpee’s hidden powers (super powers?) would manifest. And once they do, Whumper has them completely broken, and now the power (whumpee) is all theirs to use.
