A HIGH-STAKES CLIENT!

At Rafael Viñoly Architects, we often work with clients who demand luxury and excellence. One such client wants to convert an old building into a luxury hotel. The project is competitive, with several firms bidding for it.

I talked to Lal about how this client’s expectations influence our work. They mentioned that the high standards and competitive nature push everyone to do their best. This project has really energized the team, making us all more focused on quality and creativity.

Intercultural Competence is about understanding and respecting people from different backgrounds, and working together effectively. It’s about being open-minded and ensuring everyone’s ideas are valued.

At Rafael Viñoly Architects, this idea is reflected in how the teams work together. The partners select projects and build teams based on who’s available and what each person brings to the table. This year, they’ve added an interior design team that collaborates closely with the architecture team, bringing in new perspectives that enrich our work. The marketing team also plays a vital role by bringing in new clients and opportunities, which keeps things interesting and varied.

What I find particularly engaging is how everyone is involved in multiple projects, moving between teams as needed. This approach fosters a dynamic and collaborative work environment where we all learn from each other. It’s a place where teamwork truly drives our efforts, making each project a blend of diverse ideas and experiences.

I am Prathyusha!

My name is Prathyusha Dammu. I am an architect registered in India and currently on my journey toward licensure in the United States. I have a deep passion for baking and cinematography—these are aspects of myself that many people know. However, a lesser-known side of me is my love for racing, which led me to an exhilarating experience driving a Ferrari on the highways of Abu Dhabi.

I believe in the power of action; it’s what propels us toward our goals. The workplace culture I aspire to help create is one where everyone feels encouraged to bring their whole selves—where creativity, authenticity, and a shared sense of purpose thrive.
