Coffee alone with Jesus hits different than just coffee alone ☕️✍🏻

Beginnings sometimes feel like an end.

A year and a half ago I found myself in a desert. In some ways I was running from God--from hope.

I watched the Obi-Wan Kenobi series for the first time that December of 2025, and it was shortly afterward that one of my favorite artists, The Gray Havens, released their song Give Me Rest. Through both of these pieces of art, God met me in my own personal desert, and soothed those wounds that had been burnt and eroded by its hatred.

I've learned the Heart of God is not distant, but more colorful and vibrant and expansive than we've expected. Always. He meets us in story, in song, in dancing light.

He meets us in our own hearts, in what we love.

There will always be a blaue blume to chase, to seek, to try to finally glimpse. And He will always be one step ahead, beyond what we guessed, until we fall, laughing and breathless, into rest with him.

Prayers to Athena and Hermes in gratitude

I’m not super good at writing, and I feel like these are too wordy. Figured I’d share in case anyone had some suggestions

I was speaking to my roommate who was mad about a subject she didn’t have a lot of knowledge on, and I did, so I had a conversation with her that helped educate her, and have a different viewpoint by the end of it. I am confident that Lady Athena and Lord Hermes were by my side, and so I composed prayers in gratitude.

Prayer to Lady Athena in gratitude

Hear me, O Lady Athena Anchinoia

You who are the manifestation of the wisdom of Lord Zeus, our Heavenly Father

Bright eyed embodiment of the nous

I have made libations of water and olive oil at your altar, I have been a good student in your name, and for that you have granted me the skill of sound mind so that I may hold the attention of my opposition and bring them to my side, and soothe their spirits by way of rhetoric and knowledge

Through you can I defend my stance

I thank you for being by my side as I spread your wisdom and bear my nous

Please remain by me, and help me sharpen my wit and rhetoric, quick witted Oxyderces,

Admirable goddess

You who are rightfully entitled to libations, offerings, and incense

I honor and praise you with gratitude and reverence

Prayer to Lord Hermes in Gratitude

Lord Hermes, eukoinonesia,

God of the winged sandals, bearer of the caduceus,

Incense and libations of honey and fruit are offered at your altar, for you are a god of sweet tongue and honeyed words,

Through you can I communicate my stance

Through you can I express myself in a way that will move another to understand and learn the way in which I perceive the world

Thank you for all your gifts

Stay by my side always and grant me the power of speech for the sake of a better world
