take my hand and drag me head first
“Hey, do you have a minute?” Lily tightened her grip on her bag, hitching the strap up her shoulder. She glanced back toward the stairs. “You caught me at a bad time, Potter.” “Are you avoiding me?” Lily bit down on the tip of her tongue and looked at him, feeling almost dumbfounded. He wasn’t supposed to call her out on it. “I’m not… no, I’m just busy. I’ve got to get another three paragraphs done for Potions tomorrow or-“ “Evans.” James sighed and raked a hand through his hair. The habit used to drive her nuts for an entirely different reason than it did now. She blinked and looked down at her toes. A much safer place to look. “Please talk to me.” “I promised Mary that I’d help her out with-“ “Mary is in the corner playing chess with Remus.” James interrupted her. “Let’s just go out in the corridor and talk for a minute.” “We can’t. Lights out.” She pointed at nothing in particular and then grimaced. After all, it had only been a week since she and James sneaked down to the kitchens after lights out for a celebratory snack after they’d finally finished a particularly nasty Transfigurations essay. But James didn’t call her out on that. No, he just shrugged and nodded toward the staircase that led up to the boy’s dormitory. “Then we can go up to my room.” Lily’s stomach flipped. His room. Because he had his own room now that he was head boy. She wasn’t going to do that, that would be… well she wasn’t going to do it.
