Do y’all remember back when the only Mandalorian we knew anything about was Boba Fett?
(And for some reason I can’t think of him as a clone, even though he is one. He’s Jango’s son to me.)
And then the prequels came along and we got Jango Fett.
And he’s awesome, but then we got Star Wars the Clone wars, in which we were introduced to the politics and factions of Mandalore.
Including those who don’t hold with the warrior ways of Mandalore’s past.
And in Star Wars Rebels we learned about Mandalore’s relationship with the Empire...
And now, finally, the Mandalorian, in which we learn more about their culture and how they survived post-empire.
I don’t think anyone really thought in the beginning that we’d get this much worldbuilding based on a single character. But I’m sure we’re all glad we did. We now know about a dozen Mandalorian characters. We know more about the culture of the planet spanning at least three different eras. We know customs and traditions, and contention between groups. And it all started because we loved one character.
Edit: AND THAT’S NOT EVEN INCLUDING THE CLONES, who are technically Mandalorian genetically, even though they’re not Mandalorians culturally.
