Sooo i was seeing some old posts of yours and in my pov you are not a really big fan of Nightwing 2016 right? Or just Nightwing rebirth...
What are your pros and your cons? And that's bcz you like Nightwing 1996 more?
I don’t dislike Rebirth Nightwing as a whole, but there are certain aspects or runs that depict Dick in a certain way I don’t like.
Seeley’s Dick? Feels a little too green. A little too inexperienced. I suppose all that could be attributed to the weird age jump of when Dick became Robin. Although, Dick’s been written as a young 8 or 12-year-old in parts of Rebirth sooo that doesn’t really hold up. I liked his Nightwing Must Die arc even though the tone of Dick’s dialogue felt off (it does for a lot of Rebirth... I’m looking at you, King). The Superman issue was also good for showing all of Dick’s connections with everyone.
Humphries’s Dick? Methinks has the best characterization of Dick out of the Rebirth Nightwing series so far (Taylor may change the game on that). I don’t really have issues with his run. I adored Guppy. I adored Bruce and Alfred checking in with Dick. I liked how it honed in on Dick’s guilt complex. I liked the Titans and Jason flashbacks. Yada yada.
Percy’s Dick? Who the fuck even is he. He hates technology and complains about it. Kinda has to have Babs keep saving his ass. He’s just... well. I refer to him as the Rocky Balboa Dick.
Percy/Lobdell/Jurgens? The amnesia arc just fell kinda flat. A lot of things about it were bullshit concerning the batfam and Dick. I will give Jurgens props for the Dick and Alfred stuff though.
The one-shots and tie-ins throughout were pretty good. Again, the voice for Dick was a bit screwy at times, but I liked seeing Damian, Roy, and Wally throughout it (also Donna, Kory, and Garth in the main runs).
Anyways, yeah, I generally like how Pre-Flashpoint Dick is portrayed more. I think Dick’s characterization is taking a turn in Rebirth to reflect his Pre-Flashpoint self more, which I’m relieved about. Justice League #54 and Future State Nightwing are good examples of that. Here’s to hoping Taylor’s run follows the same path.
You know, I don’t think I ever pictured Lex Luthor, with hair, saying the words “buh-dee, buh-dee, buh-deep!” at any time in my life before reading it here.
Diana: “This is going to be fun...”
Clark: “Define ‘fun’, please?”
Jimmy Olsen #1 One Shot
Chloe Sullivan's second and final appearance in a Pre-Flashpoint Superman comic book.
Even in a comic book Chloe is still so beautiful and sexy as hell.
Taken || Trevor and Malcolm
It had taken longer than Tim wanted to admit, but he had finally figured out who the two men were that had taken such an interest in him. They were connected to the League, a group that was all too familiar to the family. He still wasn’t sure what they wanted from him, but he could only imagine it was somehow to get Bruce or Jason back with them.
Which is why he hadn’t told either man about going out. He was going to collect the surveillance equipment, get home, and put everything in order so he could have a reasoned discussion with Bruce...and possibly a less reasoned one with Jason.
It was disappointing, really. There was a part of Tim that had enjoyed being around the other men. Neither man was necessarily fun, but they had been skilled, and when they sometimes shared anecdotes or bits of training with him, it had felt something akin to being, if not friends, like teammates.
Of course, things don’t always go according to plan. Which is how he found himself sitting in an alley, an emergency compress on his side, while he tried to get his radio to work to call for help.
Someone had opened fire on him, and he’d been hit in the side. A through and through, no vital organs hit, but it had hurt like a bitch. The boy had fallen fifteen feet, and his ankle and knee were twisted painfully.
