Fune wo Amu -- ep. 2 “Encounter”
pork soup dumplings // xiao long bao (小笼包)
stir fried dried bean curd with green peppers (and ground pork?)
thousand year egg // hundred year egg // preserved egg // pi dan (皮蛋)
green tea
they ate at a chinese restaurant! and the setting looked so chinatown with the upside down ‘fu’ (福) and the picture menus pasted on the walls. it was like v accurate.
okay so the tea isn’t from the restaurant scene but it’s really bothering me that there’s the vertical floating tea leaf because i swear that the vertical tea leaf was referenced in another anime i watched as being a good omen but i can’t remember for the life of me what anime it was and why the hell i even remember that probably insignificant detail..... help.
as for the anime itself, i’ve only watched the first two episodes so far so i can’t really say much but people have been raving about it so i’m giving it a whirl. as you might have guessed from the subtitles...it’s about DICTIONARIES! (wow so excite. much enthrall) there are these little cutesy cartoon intermission segments about dictionaries in each episode (so far), which is a little jarring, it’s like watching a cartoon within a cartoon #inception?

"Dana Goodburn-Brown, an archaeological conservator and materials scientist said: The egg ranks as one of the coolest and most challenging archaeological finds to investigate and conserve. Being the temporary caretaker and investigator of this Roman egg counts as one of the major highlights of my 40-year career."
