maybe its because the show-writers or staff or whomEVER (i dont keep detailed logs of who said what, sorry) mentioned the possibility of season 2 dealing with sexuality/gender stuff

No staff mentioned that, it was the word of a Polygon writer that gave the topic of sexuality as an example of things Dreamworks could possibly explore in the show due to working with Netflix. But that was just it, it was an example and it wasn’t even quoted from any of the producers or writers of the show, it was merely given as an example by the article writer.

The staff has never mentioned it at all, explicitly saying “no comment” in regard to a canon gay character in Voltron.

Which, mind you, I’m not even trying to defend them because it’d be amazing if they had decided on canon gay representation from the beginning. But my point is, there is literally no queerbaiting and people are mistaking who said what.

The only official source we have is Keaton and Kaplan often defend gay ships and the fact that Lauren is very interested in representation. Things aren’t looking bleak, on the contrary, they’re looking pretty good in the direction on having LGBT presented in the series. But the show has 0 queerbaiting whatsoever.

shoplifiting discourse is a hellzone because iirc stuff like baby formula is the most targetted thing for shoplifting which is obviously survival crime but the people who swoop in to defend shoplifting are always talking about stealing shit like makeup and hair products

its a mess. I don’t think that people need to be literally starving to justify obtaining resources that they should be able to access, but on the other hand I also think that this “well if i dont have the money to get all of what I want I should just steal some of it get fucked bougies” is not fucking any of the bourgeoisie over in any way whatsoever. 

esp. if its young white people who have the privilege to maybe get away with this. i dont give a fuck if they complain about guilt or fear walking into a store and not buying anything and feeling like they were being profiled as a shoplifter even if they didnt take anything this time, as a classist violence against them

people who have no intent to steal are treated that way anyway. On basis of race and other factors.

im personally unwilling to pass judgement on the show until it does something egregious or until it ends. if the show really is gonna have 6 seasons we can relax because the time table isnt so short that things have to happen now or never

Same with me, but regardless of what my final thoughts on the show will be once it’s over, one thing I can’t accuse creators of is queerbaiting considering none were teased and VLD is not about romance in the first place. This is what gets me the most.
