People tell you that Bal is toxic and you shouldn't support it. But as a Bal shipper you just can't let it go/give it up….

Because you can't unhear/see Mal saying "I don't know what love feels like" and Ben responding with "Maybe I can teach you"….

You can't unsee Ben risking his life for Mal and Mal being willing to doom the kingdom for Ben….

You can't unsee Mal running into Ben's arms in D3 like he's the only person that matters….

You can't unfeel the 'she'd burn down the world for him and he'd give her the world' dynamic…

Guys, stop fighting - all your OTPs are canon

Descendants fans, hear me out.

Descendants: The Rise of Red introduces the concept of multiple timelines - that one key event can change a whole future. We see two timelines within the same film. This means other timelines exist. Timelines where one event happened differently that caused a domino effect.

So your OTP could have happened in that timeline - without anything toxic happening (Bal without drugging, Berey with less Leah etc.)

It’s about bal

We’re FINALLY getting the wedding (in whatever form it may be). And it’s about the main couple. Something that was sorely lacking in this franchise. So of fucking course I’m looking forward to it. However. Because I’m a neurotic biatch. I’m worried about other... ships. You know the ones I’m talking about. Bal wedding. And i will personally be pissed if some (not all, cause let’s face it, it’s a small but very vocal subset) of the fans push it in the background in favour of the crap non canon pairings. Because it’s not about about malvie or umal or benrry or any of the crazy nutcase pairings fans have created with little to nonexistent basis. Sadly it’s not even about Devie, because a double wedding would’ve been honest to god amazing. But still. It’s Bal’s wedding. So please can it just be about them for a change?

What About Bal Is Toxic?

APART FROM the love spell, I'm not seeing any behaviour that could be called toxic. Neither Mal nor Ben do anything against the others consent. Heck, she STOPS him kissing her during, Did I Mention. SO THAT nothing HAPPENS without Ben's full free consent. Ben respects Mal saying 'no'/rejecting his advances twice during the movie. One, even in the midst of the love spell. Absolutely nothing physical happened between them while the other could not fully consent.

And okay, I can see arguments coming about the fight in D2. While I acknowledge that some actions, there, could have been better. Mal immediately takes responsibility for it. She feels so guilty that she leaves. BOTH Mal and Ben were stressed and did something wrong there. Mal should not have tried to use the memory spell. Ben shouldn't have raised his voice at her. Furthermore, every couple will have at least one fight while together. You cannot use that as toxicity when it is a natural happening in relationships. Even if this particular fight felt really out of character for Ben and Mal.

Even when Ben breaks up with her. Mal doesn't act in any way that could be considered toxic. Mal doesn't scream at Ben. Or refuse to accept his apparent wishes. She doesn't try to physically hurt him. Or threaten something Ben cares about to get him to stay with her. She just quietly removes herself.

So please explain to me exactly HOW Bal is toxic once they're in a proper relationship?

(Answers just saying 'she love spelled him she bad' will NOT be accepted. If you can give me REASONABLE answers as to why you think Bal is toxic I'm willing to hear you out. )

Ben and Uma WOULD NOT WORK as a couple!

I am not just saying this as a Bal and Huma shipper who just wants my ships. I am thinking from a realistic standpoint.

All Uma ever wanted if she got off the Isle was to SAIL with her crew. She wanted FREEDOM to BE an actual pirate and to see the world.

I'm not saying that Uma would be a bad High Queen. On the contrary, she'd probably be a very good one. She was pretty much ruling the Isle stably in D2 in Mal's absence

But even if Ben DIDN'T have Mal and wanted Uma. Uma would. Not. WANT. the stately, restricting sit at a desk job that being High Queen IS.

Maybe at first she would give it a shot. For example, in a situation where Mal didn't break the love spell in D2 straight away. Uma may have stayed with/dated Ben for a while. Thinking it would give her influence and the ability to help the Isle/make sure the Isle is not forgotten again. But in the end, being with Ben would suffocate her. They would last maybe a year at most before Uma broke it off.

She just cannot be the type of girl Ben needs no matter how much she would supposedly care for him. She just can't love him the way she loves Harry or the way Ben would need as a High King.

So I'm sorry Buma shippers, but it's a FACT. Buma as a ship realistically would not LAST even if they did date.

Sometimes I like to think how different it would be if the franchise was called The King And The Dragon and was wholly about bal and their development along with duets. Or if they were literally just given more attention then the shitty pirate
