My current superhero movie mood atm
I think my favorite part about DCEU Krypton is the complete and utter disregard for a consistent accent. Like Zack Snyder in the casting process was really like "fuck it, it's an alien planet my actors can have whatever accent they have" and honestly it's a galaxy brain idea and we should all acknowledge that
A New God has arrived, the God of Evil.
The Zod v Superman battle scene at the beginning of Batman v Superman is great for three reasons:
One, it shows the perspective of civilians during the battle. In Man of Steel, we were following Clark, watching him struggle to overcome kryptonian soldiers and protect his home. We see him come into his powers and apply them in the ways he’s going to need as a superhero. In BvS, we get to see what it looked liked outside of Clark and Zod, we see just how devastating it actually was, which provides necessary context for the plot of BvS.
Two, we get to see what Bruce sees. We see him lose people he obviously knows and cares about. We get to see him try to help anyone he can, and we can see that his best efforts just aren’t enough on their own. This becomes the driving force of his anger throughout the rest of the film; he feels powerless and is trying to regain control.
Three (and most importantly), we get to see why the Justice League is necessary. Clark was able to defeat Zod and his cronies pretty much by himself—the military did their part well, but they’re just not equipped for a situation like this. Yes, Clark was able to beat Zod and save countless lives in the process, but even he’s not powerful enough to save everyone. It makes it very clear that Clark needs backup, he needs allies who can face the kind of danger he’s facing and help. If other heroes had been involved, they could help with search and rescue, minimize the destruction, help evacuate civilians, or even just tag team with Clark so he can take a second and just breathe. Everyone remember Avengers, how Cap gave everyone a job that helped deal with the Chitauri and save New York? By simply showing us the opposite, Zack Snyder perfectly demonstrated how beneficial teamwork like that is.
I deeply crave a man of steel sequel with Clark dealing with his resurrection and all that that entails, including how the world is now reacting to him. I'm screaming please. Even just a fanfic will do at this point please
