If anyone is curious about the process of how the merfolk thing was made, I'll show it under the cut and write some notes. Normally I don't like showing my ugly sketches, but they weren't that bad for this project.

So I wrote a kind of script for the idea on my phone, then I made some sketches on a notepad based on the script. I rarely sketch analogy, but I was under the weather and I wanted to put the ideas in my head down physically.

The poem idea I was getting as I was making sketches digitally and setting up the pages. I spent a few hours with help from an ai to make the poems, I don't know if they're any good or not, poems are not my thing, normally.

This page wasn't originally planned. Here you can see more clearly the rough sketch, finer sketch and lineart + grey wash shading or whatever you want to call it. I tend to delete the rough sketch, but I managed to save this one.

Here as well I didn't delete the rough sketch. (Purely because I vented on discord I was angry at myself for not setting up a better sketch)

The poem parts was also just finding words that rhymed, some words I don't even know how to pronounce in real life, hoping it would work out. The website I use to find words that rhymes said it rhymes so, I trusted it. Overall I'm very happy with the outcome, and it was worth having a sore arm today for it. Although I had the idea relatively early, the main work I started doing late evening on the 6th of October.
