From one of @pokemischaracterization polls where Blue is one of the picks. The only reason I disagree with this is because it is canon that Oak is a dick to Blue. He favours Red only his own Grandson. Say it's disappointing when you lose to him in FR/LG. And when you beat him as a champion, Oak comes in and says he's disappointed for him losing.

So I wouldn't say it's a mischaracterisation, it's more amplification.

So yeah while Oak isn't physically abusive to Blue, he is definitely emotionally abusive, which is harder to see if you don't know what to look for. Oak telling Blue he doesn't love his Pokémon was more to put him down more than speaking truth.

Does Oak care for Blue? Yes, but that doesn't mean he can't be abusive.

One last thing, I cut out who posted these tags because I don't want anyone to give them any hassle.

It seems that Misty, Brock and maybe even Gary will be around for all 11 episodes as they have been added to the Characters list which is usually reserved for regular and recurring characters. But no official confirmation of the same yet.
