Take me to the edge

Above the clouds,

Where even Darkness' shroud

Cannot dampen your fledge.

Let us touch the heavens with wings unbowed.

Let us force the Sun and Moon to follow in our wake.

Oh, what fine Queens we'll someday make!

Let us sheathe the chaos with our Light so proud.

But without your light, none see the world I create.

Their disdain, their hate, their apathy drive a wedge

In my heart, yet my duty I have pledged.

And yet, the anger in my heart, rakes.

So why do they worship you? Does the night not set them free?

Or do they see the night a prison, a guard of grim worlds of me?

Prompt #165: "Oh, no, oh Celestia, oh Dear Celestia in Heaven!"

Betrayal! How did you even find those, I banished them! How could I have foreseen this!? .... Well, in hindsight, it was pretty obvious. You were giving me the silent treatment lately. And maybe I shouldn't have made ominous  subtle threats and hints to my planned betrayal. But still! Curses! Curse you! Curse your plan! 

The Prompt: Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! 

This is a 30-minute writing prompt. Take as long as you like to think and plan, but once you start writing, your goal is to finish in half an hour. Submissions will be accepted for 6 hours, until 10 PM Pacific, 1 AM Eastern. If you don’t have a Tumblr account, send your story to [email protected].
