Welcome to Plural Prompts!

We are a blog dedicated to providing writing prompts for plurals* of all shapes and sizes. There is very little fiction out there about plurality (especially fiction that doesn't demonize or stereotype it in some way), but with this blog, we hope to get the creative juices flowing and inspire some more! It's our hope that through more written works about plurality, more plurals can see themselves in fiction and enjoy engaging in community.

*if you don't consider yourself plural, but do consider yourself a system, system-adjacent, plural-adjacent, or someone with a disorder such as DID, P-DID, or OSDD-1, this blog is also for you! We simply use "plural" as the closest umbrella term we can get without needing to add on a thousand similar identities every time the concept comes up.

Submissions are welcome through the submission box, though we ask that unless you're submitting a prompt anonymously, you leave the ask box only for asks.

Tag System

For most prompts, details – such as system origin, system size, etc – will be kept vague, though there will also be prompts that are more specific for those who prefer more detailed prompts.

As you may have noticed already, we tend to to use "plural" and "system" as our go-to words when writing. If you don't use these words for yourself, you're still welcome to use the prompts! But as we mentioned above, if we listed off every way a person who may relate to the experiences in these prompts may describe themself/ves, the prompts would become too cluttered with polite disclaimers to be useful to anyone. If other language is used in a prompt – for example, if a character is described as "a person with DID" – that will be under the Dissociative Identity Disorder tag, and you may look for those prompts specifically.

We are in the process of creating a masterlist of all commonly used (and some uncommonly used) tags on this blog, complete with links, so that prompts relating to a given topic can be more easily found and read.

Specific disorders are typed out with their full name in tags (for example, we'll tag DID as "dissociative identity disorder," but not "DID").

Again, to clarify: the words "plural(ity)" and "system" will be the common terminology* used to describe characters who are more-than-one in some way.

* we'll also default to "headmate" and "system member," but occasionally prompts may use other terminology. If parts language or persons language is used in particular, that will be tagged.

We have some suggestive prompts on this blog. If they're (by our standards) on the more graphic side of things, they'll be given the warning tag of NSFT (not safe for Tumblr).

Submissions and Schedule

We use a queue system on this blog. No matter if a prompt is a submission or an original creation of ours, it will go through the queue. This queue process means a maximum of three prompts will be posted each day.

We no longer have a set schedule for prompts (as in, we can't guarantee prompts will be posted every day). We write them as inspiration strikes.

Submissions are accepted through the submissions or ask box. However, if you are not submitting anonymously, please use the submission box.

Once your submission is accepted, it will be given a number (ex. "Submitted Prompt #745") and put into the drafts box. Once another prompt after yours is accepted (following the previous example, "Submitted Prompt #746"), your prompt will be put into the queue. The reason why your prompt is not queued right away is so that we do not lose track of what number your submission should be. This way, there's very little risk of a mix-up.

Writing Based On Our Prompts

Anyone is free to use these prompts, whether plural, system, singlet, a person with a dissociative disorder, or whatever else! What matters more to us is just getting these works out there, or at least introducing plurality to more people. As another blogger put it, the bar is in hell for writing about plurality.

If you create a prompt fill for one our prompts, feel free to tag us in your work, or otherwise tell us about it! If your work – or a link to it – is posted to Tumblr, we may reblog it here so others will find it. Any such reblogs will be under the tag #pluralprose. Credit for our prompts is highly appreciated but not necessary.

Haters Fuck Off

This is a blog for all systems/plurals, and we do mean all. We don't tolerate any kind of exclusionism or hate dressed up as "discourse". Exclusionists and bigots are not welcome here, and will be blocked.

Hate sent to us/this blog will not be posted. In fact, we'll post positivity on another system blog of ours to spite you personally.

Miscellaneous

First off, credit where credit is due – our header is an edited version of a header by dedheaders, and our icon art comes from our main system blog.

We've written multiple fanfictions with plurality in them, usually based on our own experiences, and have dabbled in original work with system characters.

If we take a while to respond to something you send, assume it's either because we're busy or don't have the energy. Or maybe it's a Tumblr problem. But if we get it, we'll respond to you sooner or later – with the exception of hate, we'll just delete that. But even then, we tend to address any questions or concerns from hate asks in an original post.

You probably know our other for-others system blog, funnier-as-a-system. (Surprise, surprise, we're there too!) We also run plegg-culture-is and factive-culture-is.

We try to assume good faith and ignorance before malice, and will do our best to avoid being hostile to anyone on this blog. However, please be aware that we can be passive-agressive at times if your words come off as rude.

Our system name is the Indigo Symphony, if anyone was curious.

Fic prompt for a Grian-centric fic!

Okay, so we all know about yhs, or at least know of it, and how it was in Japan.

So Grian probably spoke Japanese for so long, that he never forgot it, even after Evo and the watchers.

And one day, Grian's like really tired, and forgot he isn't in Japan anymore, so he just goes around speaking in Japanese.

But he can understand everyone, and they can't understand him.

(except for maybe people who might know it, like X and Doc, and maybe Mumbo)

Prompt #8

Character B’s Family have been a well known group of models for generations, and B’s mom is actually a judge on a fashion show now that she’s retired from runways. The family all follow the legacy of supermodel-dom.

B’s siblings are super successful but B? They don’t care much for it. Sure they’ve done a show or two, but they’ve been more into the actual fashion design aspect. This is how they meet Character A, up and coming designer that is giving the older pros a run for their money.

In other words; no one likes A because they’re damn good and hella creative. When they sees B they just know they have to have B model their clothes. This person was made to wear A’s designs.

It takes a lot of convincing and arguing before they reach an agreement: if B will model their clothing (A insists they won’t take anyone else) then A will take B in as their protege (something that A has refused to do ever before)

Hello, yes, I am, in fact, alive. Sorry for the disappearance, BA thesis had to be written, and bunch of other stuff happened as well...
