We are a blog dedicated to providing writing prompts for plurals* of all shapes and sizes. There is very little fiction out there about plurality (especially fiction that doesn't demonize or stereotype it in some way), but with this blog, we hope to get the creative juices flowing and inspire some more! It's our hope that through more written works about plurality, more plurals can see themselves in fiction and enjoy engaging in community.
*if you don't consider yourself plural, but do consider yourself a system, system-adjacent, plural-adjacent, or someone with a disorder such as DID, P-DID, or OSDD-1, this blog is also for you! We simply use "plural" as the closest umbrella term we can get without needing to add on a thousand similar identities every time the concept comes up.
Submissions are welcome through the submission box, though we ask that unless you're submitting a prompt anonymously, you leave the ask box only for asks.
More details about this blog under the cut.
Tag System
[PT: Tag System / end PT]
For most prompts, details โ such as system origin, system size, etc โ will be kept vague, though there will also be prompts that are more specific for those who prefer more detailed prompts.
As you may have noticed already, we tend to to use "plural" and "system" as our go-to words when writing. If you don't use these words for yourself, you're still welcome to use the prompts! But as we mentioned above, if we listed off every way a person who may relate to the experiences in these prompts may describe themself/ves, the prompts would become too cluttered with polite disclaimers to be useful to anyone. If other language is used in a prompt โ for example, if a character is described as "a person with DID" โ that will be under the Dissociative Identity Disorder tag, and you may look for those prompts specifically.
We are in the process of creating a masterlist of all commonly used (and some uncommonly used) tags on this blog, complete with links, so that prompts relating to a given topic can be more easily found and read.
Specific disorders are typed out with their full name in tags (for example, we'll tag DID as "dissociative identity disorder," but not "DID").
Again, to clarify: the words "plural(ity)" and "system" will be the common terminology* used to describe characters who are more-than-one in some way.
* we'll also default to "headmate" and "system member," but occasionally prompts may use other terminology. If parts language or persons language is used in particular, that will be tagged.
We have some suggestive prompts on this blog. If they're (by our standards) on the more graphic side of things, they'll be given the warning tag of NSFT (not safe for Tumblr).
Submissions and Schedule
[PT: Submissions and Schedule / end PT]
We use a queue system on this blog. No matter if a prompt is a submission or an original creation of ours, it will go through the queue. This queue process means a maximum of three prompts will be posted each day.
We no longer have a set schedule for prompts (as in, we can't guarantee prompts will be posted every day). We write them as inspiration strikes.
Submissions are accepted through the submissions or ask box. However, if you are not submitting anonymously, please use the submission box.
Once your submission is accepted, it will be given a number (ex. "Submitted Prompt #745") and put into the drafts box. Once another prompt after yours is accepted (following the previous example, "Submitted Prompt #746"), your prompt will be put into the queue. The reason why your prompt is not queued right away is so that we do not lose track of what number your submission should be. This way, there's very little risk of a mix-up.
Writing Based On Our Prompts
[PT: Writing Based On Our Prompts / end PT]
Anyone is free to use these prompts, whether plural, system, singlet, a person with a dissociative disorder, or whatever else! What matters more to us is just getting these works out there, or at least introducing plurality to more people. As another blogger put it, the bar is in hell for writing about plurality.
If you create a prompt fill for one our prompts, feel free to tag us in your work, or otherwise tell us about it! If your work โ or a link to it โ is posted to Tumblr, we may reblog it here so others will find it. Any such reblogs will be under the tag #pluralprose. Credit for our prompts is highly appreciated but not necessary.
Again, to be clear: if you're looking for works created based on our prompts, they can be found under the tag #pluralprose!
Haters Fuck Off
[PT: Haters Fuck Off / end PT]
This is a blog for all systems/plurals, and we do mean all. We don't tolerate any kind of exclusionism or hate dressed up as "discourse". Exclusionists and bigots are not welcome here, and will be blocked.
Hate sent to us/this blog will not be posted. In fact, we'll post positivity on another system blog of ours to spite you personally.
Miscellaneous
[PT: Miscellaneous / end PT]
First off, credit where credit is due โ our header is an edited version of a header by dedheaders, and our icon art comes from our main system blog.
We've written multiple fanfictions with plurality in them, usually based on our own experiences, and have dabbled in original work with system characters.
If we take a while to respond to something you send, assume it's either because we're busy or don't have the energy. Or maybe it's a Tumblr problem. But if we get it, we'll respond to you sooner or later โ with the exception of hate, we'll just delete that. But even then, we tend to address any questions or concerns from hate asks in an original post.
You probably know our other for-others system blog, funnier-as-a-system. (Surprise, surprise, we're there too!) We also run plegg-culture-is and factive-culture-is.
We try to assume good faith and ignorance before malice, and will do our best to avoid being hostile to anyone on this blog. However, please be aware that we can be passive-agressive at times if your words come off as rude.
Our system name is the Indigo Symphony, if anyone was curious.
DID system (A) that was cursed with immortality in the 1500s; factive introject (A) from the 1500s is mad at fictive introject (B) for being too modern for the system.
(sorry if this sounds a bit weird I hope the concept lands)
Character A is a headmate in a system and is hanging out with their singlet friend, Character B.
Character A is absolutely terrible at the activity they're doing but tries to pretend to be a different headmate who's good at it because they don't want hanging out with Character B to end.
Two fictives in the same system come from the same storyโthe thing is, there is a serious power imbalance between their sources. What happens now that they're sharing a body/headspace/etc.?
An alien species is the reverse of humans: plurality is the norm, with singlets being rare.
Write about one of these alien systems meeting their first (bodily) human system! (Alternatively, write about one of the few singlets in this majority-plural society learning about majority-singlet humans for the first time!)
By pure coincidence, all of an alien species' early contacts with humanity have been with systems. This has created some misunderstandings about the general population of humanity.
Character A had an awful feeling in their gut. "I don't want anything romantic," they warned, but Character B shook their head immediately.
"I don't want anything like that either," Character B assured them. "It's just that โ this started as a way to let go of our stress, right? I figured this might help with that. It's nice to relax and talk with someone you know well. It doesn't have to be romantic to be nice.
"And besides," they added in a lower tone, "chilling and watching movies is a popular lead-up to sex for a reason."
Character A took a few moments to think about it. Some part of them โ burned from too many times where, no matter how clearly they explained their feelings and desires right from the start, were still called a manipulative, evil fraud by the end of it all โ was still wary, but Character B was the best partner they'd ever had. Always unafraid to be honest, always open and blunt when they thought it was necessary โ something that Character A knew well came from the very nature of their no-holds-barred fuckbuddy (insofar as they could be called "buddies") relationship. There was nothing to lose for either of them. Or at least... there hadn't been, until it became a regular thing, and they got to know each other through their intimacy, and Character A started looking forward to their times together the same way they used to look forward to spring vacation or a trip to their favorite bakery. It was a kind of joy that the absence of had led to this situation in the first place. Now, there was something to lose, and the thought of it ending like so many relationships had before had them curling up defensively, both physically and emotionally.
Still, Character B was right that it might be nice... and Character A couldn't help but be curious about what it would be like to experience these things without the pressure of a love they couldn't ever hope to give.
We have been searching for an idea to work writing for a fictional system off of for ages, so finding this blog was a lovely surprise! Thank you, dears! -Lilith
We're very glad we could help you! I hope every system looking for ideas can find something here

weโre in the middle of writing something that was inspired by several prompts on this blog, and recently published a short piece from it, so we figured weโd send the link in here!

headmate a finds the rest of the system trying to figure out mysterious notes that keep being written in a language none of them understand and quickly comes to realize why so many of their reminders don't seem to be listened to by anyone
Singlet A, who is enemies with a member of System B, is confused when they see each other and instead of the usual exchange of insults and threats, System B politely greets them and asks who they are. Though they think it's a trick at first, Singlet A slowly befriends the members of System B and discovers even the member they originally hated isn't so bad after all.
Bonus points if the System B member who was enemies with Singlet A does not actually know that they are plural, or knows but is in denial.
System A is a masked musician who uses their persona to express themselves freely without being recognised in public. What is this persona like in terms of aesthetics and personality? Do people know they're plural? Is it a common theme in their songs? Are all headmates involved in making music?
Bonus: One day, they notice their collective persona has developed its own sense of self. How does this affect their career?
