Proverbs 13:12
Proverbs 13:12 by starlingcas || @angelcasendgame Rating: General Audiences Word count: 16k
“A human and his angel get caught in a net,” Dean says dryly, not seeming to notice how completely still Castiel has gone. “Sounds like a set up to a bad joke. Or a Bible story.” “I can assure you, Dean,” he manages to say, trying desperately not to fixate on Dean's words. “This has never happened in the Bible.” ~ (feat. autumn longing and hope, a game of I spy, hozier and led zepplin, mentions of the mixtape, and most importantly, dean and cas being best friends and helplessly in love with each other)
Happy September! I don’t know about the rest of you but I am so ready for autumn vibes. So, let’s start off with the perfect fic for the season!
Dean and Cas are walking back from a Men of Letters chapter house in beautifully described autumn scenery when they trigger a trap and are hanging in a net from a tree. They’re stuck, practically sitting on top of one another, and they talk.
That’s right. Dean and Cas are sitting in a tree— T-A-L-K-I-N-G!
One of the hardest parts of writing a fic is getting the dialogue to match the character voice, and this one hits every line perfectly. Dean is dorky (oh, man you will groan at his puns) and heartfelt. Cas’s deep all consuming love comes from every syllable, and his dry scene of humour shows up at the perfect moments. The things they say— and especially the things they don’t say— show just how much these two care about each other.
This fic is filled with delicious longing, gorgeous autumn views, good music, and it’s capped off with a wonderfully satisfying ending.
What a perfect story to start the season!
