Frozen time

Autumn leaves have already fallen

Cherries standing bald under the blue skies

The cold breeze of December is blowing

People around the city dress up with gloves and fur

Socks and boots

Skiers skis downhill

Little children building their snowman

Firewood start to burn inside the fireplace at home

The relaxing aroma of pines perfumes the air

Lantern are hanging outside the windows

Sparkling lights on the Christmas tree

Christmas carols are played over the radio

It's wintertime on December

And it's frozen Time.

this realm /lives in a house /of mourning /can you give them /a kiss? they want /to possess, dissect /and become /you]

We all wear masks Of varying designs Much of the time, It’s human nature. But eventually we meet Those we trust enough To remove it around; We sigh in relief to find It isn’t fused to our skin. When they tell us they like What’s underneath better, We don’t know whether to laugh Or cry from the sweet surprise, Especially when in the past The face behind the mask Was deemed unlovable.

There’s risk in unmasking, but if we’re only accepted while wearing one, are we truly accepted?

Tricked

Once upon a gloomy October I wore my heart on my sleeve You asked me, "Who are you?" I gently lifted your index finger Then pointed it across my chest "Yours," I said, "I am yours alone."

We walked through creepy streets Laughed at kids with plastic wings Little white ladies tried to scare us Zombies looked like they were drunk When the orange confetti fell on us You casually poked my exposed heart

I was taken aback by your playfulness You didn't notice my serious face You said, "Hey, here's a treat for you." You offered something from your hand It was a piece of magical candy "You should try it," you smiled at me

When the magic candy met my tongue I was astonished by how sweet it was Tons of sugar exploding in my mouth I felt so full, I tried, but I couldn't shout You were there, enjoying the mystic view Of me, devouring your magical candy

Oh, but when I swallowed all of it My vision swirled, an infinite spin The hues started to lose their glow The growing darkness has taken over Everything has quickly turned to nothing The lights have lost their way back

Now is just another gloomy October I'm still wearing my heart on my sleeve You asked me, "Who are you this time?" I searched the shadows for your hands I placed your index finger to my chest "Yours," I said, "I am still yours alone."

Witch and Moan

Why do you say I slipped

You a witch’s brew,

Bespelled ale?

Your hellish hangover

Is nobody’s fault but your own.

Why do you claim I

Have belladonna lips

And eyes afire?

Your desire isn’t a hex,

At least not performed by me.

Stop insisting my black leather

Cape and knee-high boots

Can’t be resisted, therefore

Evidence of occult charm.

You’re just angry that

Your wand

Holds no magic

For me.

Costume

Slip into this.

         "Slip's" not the right word

          - Slip, flip, kick

          Squeeze, press,

          Smash your flesh

          Into this.

Feel that constriction

- The skin's affliction -

Lubricating the stitching?

     Now, one step forward

         - A little creaking

              In this polyurethane pleating.

Yet, that reflection

What perfection!

Go save the world

Hero you are.
