So to do an honours thesis for psych it says "Prerequisites: HH/PSYC 1010 6.00, with a minimum grade of C; HH/PSYC 2030 3.00; HH/PSYC 2020 6.00 (or equivalent)", however I did psyc 2021&2022 instead of 2020 so does that mean I should be fine?

Yes you should be fine, PSYC 2021 & 2022 are course credit exclusions for PYSC 2020.

To the person taking PSYC2020, I recommend taking PSYC2020 again. Let’s say you take PSYC2021 and do well but fail PSYC2022, then you’re not left with the best options in my opinion. When it comes to statistics I recommend going to the PASS sessions that are offered (I believe they are at Calumet College). In addition, I recommend taking it with either Alistair Mapp (haven’t had him personally, but I hear he is really good) or Monique Herbert (I have her right now and she’s phenomenal)

I'm having a hard decision figuring out whether I should take psych 2020 or psych 2021, 2022. I'm already in psych 2020 rn but I failed the first test by 1 mark. I realize the course gets harder as the year goes on and don't want to fail it because of the second term. I was thinking of dropping psych 2020 and just taking psych 2021 next semester and the psych 2022 in the summer. What do you feel is the best option? Thank you!

From what I’ve heard, PSYC 2020 is easier than taking PSYC 2021/2022, so I’d just recommend taking PSYC 2020 again.

Psychology

span>Hi, so i have a question regarding some courses in Psychology. I am now a second year major in this course and i know that stats and research methods are mandatory subjects that i need to take. However, there is one part which i do not understand. So it says psych 2020 (stats.. 6 credits) is what i need or psych 2021 and 2022 which are 3 credits each. And then it says i still need 6 credits from all these other stat courses, but when i click on the course, it says that it will be under course credit exclusion, since it is like I am taking 2 of the same courses. So my main concern is, that will my “not yet satisfied” become satisfied under all those other stat courses if i just take psych 2020? Just so you know, psych 2020 was not in the same box as the other stat courses.

I'm considering re-taking a course but I want to ask, if I took STATS 2021(?) the full year course, and I want to take them separately, would that replace the STATS full year course or would it show up as separate grades? Would I have to take a full year stats to replace it or can I talk to the department or the registrar's office to replace it?

No it won’t replace the Yearly stats course mark. You have to repeat the exact same course in order to replace the mark, so you’ll have to take 2020 again.

I just thought that since stats is a prerequisite for research methods, and let's say I fail stats while I'm taking research methods, would it be a waste of time taking research methods since (I thought) I would have to take research methods again because I failed stats. I guess not based on your answer H.

You should be fine because stats can be taken as a corequisite with Research Methods, so even if you fail PSYC 2020 (which is a Yearly course) you won’t lose the credit for Research Methods.

I am taking psyc 2020 (full year stats) and I am enrolled in Research Methods in the winter semester. What happens if I fail 2020 at the end of the year but I have passed research methods? What would happen? Research methods would have been a waste of time?

It would just bring down your GPA and you will have to repeat the course again because stats is a mandatory course in Psychology. Why would Research Methods be a waste of time when it’s a requirement for your degree?

I switched my major to psychology and I am currently taking psyc 1010 and Psych 2020, since it said they're corequisite on the course website, but I have been having emails from the department saying I should drop psych 2020... what should I do?

They’re sending you emails because you need a grade C in PSYC 1010 before you can continue on in any other PSYC courses (especially if you’re a Psychology major). They might de-enroll you, but you’re probably okay if they haven’t already, and yes you’re right it is listed as a co-requisite which doesn’t make sense.

When I took HLST 1010 and HLST 1011 as co-requisites the SHMP department used to email me as well, but I ignored it and it turned out fine for me.

You should call the Psych department and confirm with them just in case.
