After a brief scare due to a drop in propellant pressure, NASA's Psyche spacecraft has switched to its backup propellant lines and is back on track for a Mars flyby in early 2026 on the way to the asteroid Psyche. Launched in 2023, the spacecraft is expected to arrive at Psyche in 2029.

i flipped open to this page and almost screamed inside a costco + other idiots

was wishing they’d show images from Europa Clipper and Parker Solar Probe during the stream, but we got some images from other spacecraft, like Lucy and Psyche,,,

DSOC (Deep Space Optical Communications) is a technology experiment that uses optical light (instead of radio waves) to increase the performance/speed of communications from space. The Psyche mission has successfully flown and tested this demonstration.

I haven't ever drawn how the DSOC experiment would appear on Psyche, so today I made a doodle of it as some sweet laser-shooting accessory on her wrist.

Probably wouldn't be powerful enough to melt things, it's more of like a regular laser pointer, though still bright enough to dazzle you. Can transmit messages like cat videos if provided a receiver.
