Well. Completely doubting my entire decision to become an English major right now and my heart is breaking.

I guess I'm officially not getting my PhD, though I'm still gonna go for my masters. But like. I dunno.

I did a bit of research and all the grad schools' advice is asking me questions and giving me suggestions on the part of English that I don't care about??

I don't want to analyze the meaning of a text written ages ago, or even yesterday, and write a thousand page dissertation on it. I want to teach people the joy of grammar. I want to edit. Fuck this.

Fuck teaching. Fuck being a professor. I'm gonna be happy with being a star editor that everyone wants to hire.

Today my sister came up to me (she's in middle school) & told me her class is taking a field trip to a country club for an end of the year celebration. She was super excited because there was games, a swimming pool, tennis..& a bunch of other fun stuff! BUT THEN. She told me that the teachers were making ALL THE GIRLS WEAR T SHIRTS OVER THEIR BATHING SUITS because the skin they were showing was too inappropriate for the other kids (meaning literally just the fucking teenage boys. The worst part?? the boys don't have to wear fucking shirts LIKE THEY ARE SHOWING MORE SKIN They are fucking middle schoolers. And now my sister & all the other little middle school girls can't just WEAR THEIR FUCKING SWIMSUITS for a couple hours because some dumb fucking fuckboy will get a boner. STOP OVER SEXUALIZING GIRLS STOP OVER SEXUALIZING GIRLS They are in fucking middle schoolers. The fact that boys can show all the skin they want but a couple of MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS can't even show a little tummy. I'm pissed. What the hell is wrong with today's fucking society.
