had a thought in the shower about Purly and their different trauma.

Curly's life has been a steady purgatory. Pony was in heaven for years and has had at least seven months of insane hell.

Curly has had a rough life, but at least it was always the same. He never had to deal with death really, because his dad died when he was a baby (in my hc lol) and his mom has been in n out since then. His siblings are also in n out, but they always have been. It's not a great life, but its steady and he makes the best out of it.

Pony was living in literal heaven (compared to most of the East side). He had loving parents, loving older brothers, a loving household, and a generally amazing childhood. And he got used to that heaven. And then he dropped, straight down, past purgatory, right into hell. His parents died, he was forced to adapt to that. To a pain he had never even thought about in his life. It was awful. His relationships with his brothers and his friends became strained. It was awful. And then the events of the book happen. And it gets worse. Everything keeps going downhill and he is grasping at loose gravel trying to stay up, but he's slipping.

Curly has been leaving in a steady bad life. Pony was dropped from the highest place to the lowest.

Okay, but Curly waking up in the middle of the night on the couch where he fell asleep cuddling with Soc!Ponyboy the night after his quinceañera and just sitting there staring at his adorable sleeping boyfriend with his crown still tangled in his hair

And Ponyboy waking up while Curly is in the bathroom trying to untangle the crown without having to wake Tim up for help and they talk about their future plans with soft voices to distract Curly while Ponyboy helps with his hair

And they go back to sleep on the couch but Curly can't sleep because how could he sleep when Ponyboy is right there?? Looking so adorable?? So he just has his chin on Ponyboy's stomach and is staring at him
