Buzzing sounds echoed around the room. They weren’t always the same pitch, either. It switched maddeningly. Shrill hums, low engine rumbles. Even the irritating noise of a flickering fluorescent lightbulb. Without even a moment’s pause, noise filled the space around the alien captive.
M’gann kept her eyes tightly shut. Part of her still prayed that this was all just one of the terrible nightmares that had plagued her ever since she’d escaped the Lab. But the sounds and the terrible, burning heat were all too real. She couldn’t avoid the awful truth any longer. The Panel had finally succeeded. The Martian had been captured once more and this time, she feared, there would be no escape.
Hazy memory flooded her mind. A crowded sidewalk at morning rush hour. Cell phones ringing. A woman yelled for a taxi. M’gann knew she had been heading to the park. Or the library? The good doctor’s office? Then someone blocked her way. The scientist. M’gann recalled the terror and then a sharp pain in her back and then darkness.
She shook the memory out of her head. With great effort, M’gann forced herself to sit up and scan the area. A red light filled the space and numbed M’gann’s skin. The heat and the noise made her mind and body behave sluggishly. M’gann cautiously held her palm out in one hand and a lock of hair in the other. Nothing moved. Muffled laughter filled the orb. There would be no telekinesis and no shifting in this cell.
Reluctantly, she looked around for more. The space was barely large enough for her to lie down and contained no furniture of any kind. Aside from her own body, the cell was entirely empty. The cell itself was a spherical orb which reflected everything inside the orb back like a mirror. M’gann stared miserably at her own reflection and pressed a hand to it.
The wall was burning. She pulled her hand away fast, like she’d touched the surface of a hot stove, and clasped it to herself. Faint laughter resonated from outside the orb. M’gann narrowed her eyes. Although she might only see her own reflection, someone was right outside the spherical cell and was looking in at her. Perfect. A burning two-way mirror, she realized grimly. The distractions, the sweltering heat, the shape of the room. Everything was precisely designed to keep her contained.
And she could think of no way out.

@pxterparkour
A heavy sigh filled with audible exhaustion passed through Miles’ lips as he made his way into Peter’s bedroom through the window, before dropping down from the ceiling and crumbling into a tired pile on the floor. As he pulled the mask from his face and adjusted himself so that he was lying on his back and staring up at the spot on the ceiling he had just dropped down from, he groaned. “That...was a long night.” He said. “The criminals are definitely taking advantage of the fact that there’s so much internal conflict going on between the good guys. Even if we were both out there, it probably still would have been too much. And then I ran out of web-fluid, which didn’t make things any easier. I’ll need you to make me some more” He sighed again and shook his head. “I dunno how you did this by yourself for so long. I’ve only been at it a few days and I already feel like I need to hibernate for a year”

¿ - for jessica to ask peter a personal or uncomfortable question:
Stark was in another meeting (sucked to be him), and Jessica had dragged Peter up to the landing pad, because seriously, that kid needed some goddamn sunlight.
She was dangling her legs over the ledge, not worried by the height. (Though this rooftop might actually be high enough to make landing... less than pleasant.) Peter was next to her, and he was his usual bundle of nervous energy. She could see why Stark liked him. Even if he hadn’t been a budding superhero, she had a feeling those two would’ve found each other.
The wind was whipping through her hair, and the air was warm. Summer was on its way, struggling to get there, but it was coming. It was almost peaceful up here, as close to peaceful as she ever felt these days. So, of course, she couldn’t let that stand.
“Why’d you do it?” she asked, glancing back at the kid. “Sign that thing. I’m not --” she stopped, thinking of how she’d asked Stark that same question when they first met. A lifetime ago, it seemed. “I’m not judging. Much. But you clearly didn’t buy into that whole transparency bullshit, and when Orse called you out during that meeting... Kid I thought you were gonna melt into the floor,” she murmured, watching him carefully. “So why sign in the first place?”
Peter approaches, hesitant. "I'm, uh. I'm not, y'know, I'm not against the Accords. If they're keeping people safe, I'm all for them." He pauses, frowns, and tries to find the right words. "But if they're causing this big divide, and all this violence, are we really-- are they actually helping? To keep people safe, I mean. When everyone's just kinda... beating each other up."
Orse’s pale eyes glinted as the young man stepped forward. “Of course you aren’t, Mr. Parker,” he said, that strained smile on his face. He glanced up at the crowd. “Mr. Parker is a registered hero, one of the first souls brave enough to step forward and reveal what lay beneath his mask. Spiderman,” he said, glancing back at the boy. He truly was so young, so remarkable. “You know better than most the benefits of signing the Accords, of taking responsibility for your actions. And we at the Panel commend you for your bravery and sacrifice.” There was a small smattering of applause. Orse held up a hand.
“The problem, Mr. Parker, is not with the Accords themselves. But rather those who refuse to take the same steps you yourself have taken. The Panel has never wished to fight or start a war, we have merely taken steps to arm ourselves against threats to the community as a whole. The division is a needless one, we agree with you. Which is why you and your fellow registered heroes have been tasked with convincing others to follow in your brave footsteps. If you wish to see the violence end, you must continue with that task, until all heroes step forward into the light.”
Breaking Glass || Fred & Peter
@pxterparkour
After a rather, tumultuous encounter with the Strike Force and Ms Jones, Frederick waited a few days before donning his white costume and mask and heading out to raid another antique store. Things progressed smoothly enough, he froze the lock, making it easy to break and quickly plucked the Victorian compact mirror from the cabinet. He left the shop, even closing the door behind him, and was gone into the night.
He made it a few blocks away and paused, looking down and opening the mirror to ensure it was whole, and pristine. As he gazed down at the glass he tilted it a little, and caught sight of someone atop the building he was leaning against.
Pocketing the mirror he turned and called up softly, “I’d much rather you come down and speak to me, rather then hide from me.”
