Some art I did for Fields of Asphodel from @chrysanthemumgames 🥺
I was the anon that asked for descriptions that one time, I tried to follow them but if i forgot and did some bits wrong I promise it wasnt on purpose ^-^. I referenced the official colour palettes for the colours, but I used the markers I had on hand + some layering to try and get as close as I could
Drawn in my sketchbook, then scanned and printed to colour with markers, and then scanned again to add the background digitally :)
i have 1 more art for FoA to post later
Pyri from @chrysanthemumgames

Quadwing / scaly quartet
Family: debated, wyvern or lesser drake
Genus: quadwing
Scientific name: quadwing aeropoint
Size (to shoulder) 6 in
Wingspan (power) 4 in
Wingspan (drive) 3 in
Elementality: vitality
Diet: pollinator, hemovore
Conservation status: critically endangered
Can be kept as pet?: currently illegal
This dragon is capable of flapping its wings over three hundred times a second, but it's primary power wings are incapable of providing direction, so it uses secondary driveways attached to its arms in order to produce forward flight. This dual wing system allows them to fly in place, backwards, sideways, upside down, aerially strafe, rotate in place, and reach speeds of 115m/s from standstill in 2.8s, making them both the fastest flyer and accelerator in the known aerial world over short distances. They are capable of outrunning a diving peregrine falcon or skyfall snowswooper, however they cannot hit this speed consistently, as it burns so much of their energy that they are only capable of moving this speed for less than a second.
It uses nature magic to extract all nectar from plants it visits simultaneously, saving the energy required to make trips to each flower.
Human monoculture and industrialization has greatly reduced its food sources, causing it to attempt to consume other fluids as a replacement for nectar, such as carbonated beverages, blood, fruit juices, and industrial waste. Fruit juice is the only healthy alternative that has been recorded, and many people in country settings fill feeders with synthetic nectar to feed these dragons.
A common nickname is the scaley quartet, as the sound of a nearby quadwing in flight resembles the harmonization of a barbershop quartet.
Its status as a drake is debated due to it's front talons providing additional use as wings, and its status as a wyvern is debated due to having a total of six limbs dedicated to motion. This has been an ongoing issue for thirty years. A recent petition has categorized it as an amphiptere, which has actually made the issue worse.
IT HAS LEGS IT'S NOT AN amphiptere!
(Hi, Pyri here. Paige and the professor got into an argument about whether it's a drake or a wyvern. To be on the safe side, they're putting it in both categories, but in case you're curious, paige says it's a drake, And the professor says a wyvern. They've been arguing about it all week. Personally, I think it's its own thing, but i'm not a dracologist, soo... anyway, here's a picture from memory, their blue, brown or orange, I think. Maybe purple? Or green?)
The eaten Pyri ask: I've just begun my first Pyri route (my second route so far) and I was Not Ready for how the colour choice came back at me. Thought it was only a "which person are you vibin' with?" type of flavour text. Then became obsessed with finding a potential 'Leks easter egg - spent 20 minutes adding in random colours to see if there was one that got a response out of her. Ended up just typing in "BALLS ALEKTO" in (loving) frustration at the end and wELL.. Impeccable game. Thank you.
Hehe, well unfortunately Alekto's response to the question is always refusing to pick. On the plus side, that means she approves of any answer, really. :)
I've found a few places to reference the PC's choice of favorite color so far; there will probably be some more as things go on. I do like throwing in little references to details like that when I can. It's just fun flavor for me to write if the main character is a klutz or afraid of heights or some other little thing and a situation comes up where that is once again relevant!
The art I rb'd earlier today inspired me to go back & dig up a couple of my own gems from ~2010 or so:
I may want to get back into drawing scene/emo stuff! I still love it 😭
#007 Pyri
People often have to check their rafters for roosting Pyri. The little flames on their wings can sometimes cause house fires.
