personality: quarantine

i die reading my previous posts because they are an excellent representation of the various, unpredictable thoughts that I felt COMPELLED to share in the seemingly endless fuck vortex that was 2020-early 2022 covid/quarantine. even having 2 of my dearest nearby, shit got lonely and when shit gets lonely - shit gets weird!!

I wish I were a crow. Being able to call any benign group activity a “murder” would make it infinitely more intriguing. Fuck “brunch”.

This came to me like a vision as I was lying in bed listening to wtnv last night

Ok, so a few days ago I had an epiphany about how Hitman WOA started with an assassination of a power couple, Dahlia and Viktor Novikov, and their similarity with our beloved assassin couple. Dahlia was the brain and Novikov was the brawl of the outfit and while they are not entirely similar to Diana and 47, there are certainly a noticeable familiarity in the way they worked. The notably first point, which was how I came to this revelation, was the side the scale of power falls towards. In both case, the heavier side of power inclined towards the women, they both enjoyed being the taskmaster, while working in the shadow of their male counterparts. Furthermore, they had an easy, convenient relationship with their men. For Dahlia, it was a contract marriage, I came to this conclusion when I heard her conversation with her personal bodyguard about whether she should dispose of Viktor after he gave their info, some of which they were currently auctioning, to Lucas Grey to settle his old enemy. For Diana, it was a co-workers companionship. In both relationship, the participants were all revered to be the best of their field. Dahlia and Novikov, in the fashion scene, and Diana and 47, in the assassination business. The dynamic leaned heavily on the business aspect of things, just like Diana and 47 of 20 years ago, when they first started working together under the ICA. 

And then, in the end, there was another power couple. Just as Lucas Grey had said, he ran away and then ended up right back where he started. 47 and Diana had grown a long way since the serious, business like relationship they’ve begun with and more. It was evident in the way they talked, in their body language, in the way they gravitated towards each other every time they were in the same room. My hopeless romantic heart would scream LOVE every time I saw them interacting on the screen. But it is more than love, it is companionship, respect, guilt, intimacy, affection, confidentiality, familiarity, understanding, all rolled into one. Just as Don and Valentina Yates used to regard each other. Just like the Novikovs, the Yates used to be good together, and with each other and they used to be revered for it. I know the canon ending for Don was to be killed in the hands of 47 and Diana. Still, I kept replay the last and only conversation he had with his wife. How could he betray her like that? How didn’t she see it before? How she was so blind to his manipulation. How he was speechless in the face of her anger. While the Novikov’s was the image of Diana and 47′s early relationship, the Yates’s was their what if, their alternate universe, their unhappy ending. At this point of the story, we already know everything there was to know about their past concerning one another and it was clear that everyone had passed the point of no return. The Yates was what waiting for them ahead.

“How can you claim to love somebody and then destroy their world with the flick of a pen?”

This is the quote that can sum up their entire relationship in one go. It can be applied for both party in this case. Diana, for her executive decision making. 47, for his willingness to follow orders. They are, while clearly in love, also blind to the control they exert on one another. 

 Thus, 47 and Diana began their ending by killing an image of themselves, and finished it by killing another one.
