answering the burning question of DELTA RUNE: "What the hell is wrong with Berdly?"
We don't know a lot about him. We know he became fixated on the concept of smartness from a young age, but why? what circumstances would lead him to the way he acts now?
my theory (headcanon) is: He has a single mom, who is a nurse at the hospital. She's always busy, and when she isn't, she's exhausted from work. Now, having a parent that doesn't really have time for you definitely puts a certain amount of strain on a kid. Possibly leading them to.... latch onto any external validation or concrete praise they get? Maybe develop a superiority complex to make up for the loneliness they constantly feel? And not only that, but with so much alone time in the day, how would a kid in that situation occupy themselves? Perhaps by gaming? Pursuing a part-time job? Studying? do you see my vision.
