My partner and I have a running joke that I'm gay for him
I need to share this story 🥺💚
I just went to my hairdresser to ask about the appointment I have with them next week . Because on their website they say they have prices for men and women. And I was like “but I’m NB so what’s it for me?”
They themselves look very queer and although I don’t know their pronouns I’m getting vibes. And they answered really kindly that it will be figured out by how long it takes to take care of my hair and that they themselves are annoyed by the pricing rules. And that the salon is working on changing the system. And then they changed the setting in the system over my name to diverse without me having to ask and I was nervous before that but now I’m just emotional 🥹 I think I finally found the right person to give my curly hair a gender affirming haircut 💚💚💚🥺😭
seeing pride flags give me an insane amount of joy
So... y'all know the person I've been talkin' bout? Well turns out we have basically everything in common. From music to video games to interests we want to get into!
They are so amazing. They are passionate and follow what makes them happy. They are also deeply empathetic and care for everyone around them.
Ugh, I really like them. And anyway we talked and we are now girlfriends 🥰 So anyway, everyone say hey to my darling @nyudreemz 🤗
A queer transmasc friend of mine once said “I always thought my obsession with mlm was weird until I realised I AM mlm myself.” As a non-binary sapphic person whose introduction to LGBTQ+ media was through achillean relationships, I felt that SO HARD.
Back when I identified as just a (really enthusiastic :D) ally, I also avoided sapphic media like the PLAGUE. It just gave me an uncomfortable, forboding feeling, and I now realise that’s because I was subconsciously aware I would end up being able to relate to wlw. On the other hand, I adored all other LGBTQ+ media, but especially mlm. Achillean characters gave me an opportunity to mildly project myself onto their queer experiences (and queer happiness!) while also keeping a safe distance, and by the time I had come to terms with my bisexuality, I was also realising my gender identity is more fluid than I grew up believing.
The way mlm is often portrayed through a fetishizing cis-heterosexual female gaze in media is not okay. But, perhaps besides supporting real mlm, the rare unproblematic gems have also given a lot of queer women and queer femme-aligned enby folks an opportunity to gently find ourselves without overwhelm.
Please reblog with well-done, non-problematic achillean shows and movies that need more support! I’ll start:
Heartstopper (Alice Oseman, 2022 show)
Sasaki to Miyano-san (Harusono Sho, 2022 anime)
Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey Mcquiston (show in the works!)
y’all i could really use so queer joy rn reblog with your happiest queer stories
