On the final day of Pride month, remember our Queer elders who stood up and decided that they'd had enough. Pride began because our community had had enough. And in the year 2021, big sections of our community continue to face discrimination, oppression and hatred, especially Trans women of colour. NONE of our community will be equal until we are ALL equal. Don't forget who stood up on the 28th June 1969 and said 'ENOUGH' to disproportionate police brutality. Without them, we wouldn't have alot of the freedoms that we do now. We also remember those who we have lost along the way, those who live in places where being true to themselves is life threatening, and those who feel that they can't come out yet. Pride is, and has always been a fight, but that fight is not over, not by a long way. Learn our Queer history, remember who started the fight for us all. I live with conflict between my biological identity and general sense of individual experience of my culture and soul’s natural expression. Who knows. In a way, my culture spans from the African one old as time, to the modern one new as New York. I could not be me without modern medicine and I would not have my genealogy and heritage without my ancestors remaining there from Genesis till 1988; my queerness is a privilege of time before law and time well after it. I have experienced the power of the male form and I have reverted to the plenitude femininity, the fetus’ “natural” form brings. I feel it all; I am it all. As are you... It just conveys in me more directly. Race is a construct and races cannot exist unless their history is truncated to the time their diaspora settled there from the last region. It’s all quantized; all points to Africa. Granted, there have been parallel histories. Indigenous peoples have lived here about as long as Siberians have lived in Siberia. And African peoples are simply humans who have been true to where they started from then. Take it as separatist, take it as illuminating. Races are nothing more than historical nodes.
