I'm probably a demigirl but I just kind of ignore it because I don't want to make my life more complicated than it already is

Am I a demigirl or is there just a gender label for every single experience and I'm overthinking? Is that good for me?

(I just got really happy calling myself a “flower boy” (wedding) instead of the obvious term, and I really like being called people’s husbands. And masc terms. I really like masc terms like uncle, husband, flower boy. Also I want to make my sona have short hair…)

Are you on the fence about being transgender? Are you worrying about the signs, or lackthereof? This is a small FAQ I've been wanting to make for a few months now, please read through this if you need some questions answered

What if I don't feel comfortable in my body but I don't want to be the opposite gender?

Your body is your temple, devoted to you. Decorate and change it how you like; HRT may or may not be the path for you. Gender is weird and labels are here to help, not confine. Find what works best for you

How do I know if I'm trans or not?

Cisgendered people normally don't ask that question, they're usually pretty comfortable in their gender and don't feel the need/want to change it. Some Cisgender people do question it though and it's more than okay to explore and see what does and doesn't fit for you if that's the case!

Are (XYZ) pronouns valid?

Yes. And yes, even neo-pronouns. Language and gender are both made up human concepts, go buck wild.

What about Autogynephilia and Autoandrophilia ? what if I have those and I'm not trans?

Did you know that its normal to think you're attractive? When you feel better about yourself, you're going to be excited to say the least. And if you were/are interested in force-masc/fem it may last a little while longer because you're finally living out your power fantasy of actually being the opposite gender without anyone forcing it on you because thinking of yourself as attractive and happier is going to make you feel attractive and happier

What if I'm just gender-non-conforming?

That's fine too! Expression is for everyone! You don't need to be trans to dabble in expression outside of the gender you were assigned.

Is it too late/old/etc for me?

Why would it ever be too late for you to be happy and understand yourself? If this is your thought process, you may only be hurting yourself in denial. Let yourself free of bogus societal restrictions and life your life as yourself.

What if I end up ugly/not passing!?

1 - Attractiveness is like 60% confidence, and you will become more confident in yourself as you let yourself exist and grow as a person. Do you know what its like to look at someone with a fire and passion in their eyes that nobody in the room around you has because they know who they are and what they want? That makes my knees weak

2 - I also understand that passing, while not mandatory, is definitely something a lot of trans people want to strive for, including myself. If you're planning on going on HRT just keep up your regimen. From what 3 - I've seen, like 50-70% of "passing" is just how masc/fem your voice is. For estrogen dominated people, taking T for a while can masculinize your voice. For testosterone dominated people, you will have to manually voice train and find your own voice.

What if there were no signs before?

Why would that effect your happiness now? If you want to suddenly change your gender/presentation/whatever else then go for it. Do you and enjoy yourself, we only get one ride in this life.

What if its too much work and I don't want to transition but still say I'm trans?

Okay. That was always an option, and it completely valid. Your identity is your identity, nobody else can decide it for you and you can express yourself however you want.

What if I can't find a label that fits me?

Labels are descriptive, not prescriptive. They give definition to a nebulous feeling, they don't put you in a restrictive box. And not to be condescending, but you're on Tumblr; do you know how many queer identities have been coined on Tumblr? If you can't find something and are desperate for a label, ask around or coin a new term!

Can I just keep my gender and have more pronouns or vice versa?

Yes and yes! Pronouns =/= Gender =/= Expression.

Is it bad if I follow the stereotypes?

No not at all! I actually fall into a handful of stereotypes for Trans Women and it doesn't detract from my fem-nonbinary-ish gender that I feel.

Will I be alone/stranded from the people I grew up with and have known to love?

1-Will you be alone? No, through the power of the internet you have tens of thousands of people willing to cheer you on and support you. 2- This may be a hard pill to swallow, but unfortunately in your personal life IRL that may be the case; you may lose support systems and/or become a target for hate and that is just the sad reality. If someone isn't your friend/talking with you just because you're trans, they're not going to respect you as you are anyways. But please do whatever is safest for you in the moment, just don't ever lost sight of who you truly are.
