pronouns =/= gender. pronouns are words we use to express our experience of gender, and everyone is going to do that differently.

you can be a girl and not use she/her pronouns. you can be a guy and not use he/him pronouns. you can be nonbinary and not use whatever pronouns people expect of you at any given time. you can be any gender and use whatever pronouns you want. you can not use pronouns at all. you can use neopronouns.

hair length is often socially associated with gender but you don't have to be a certain gender to have long hair, short hair, styled hair, etc.

you can just like your hair being a certain way, and dislike it being another way. you can shave it off all because you don't want hair at all. you can make up a hairstyle of your own. you can collect wigs and have totally different hair every day. same thing with pronouns.

so go out there and be a little freaky with it if you want

is it weird that my pronoun preferences change not only by person but also by situation. like generally i go by she/they because it’s easiest for most people in my life, with sometimes the addition of one or two dog related neos (dog, puppy, feral, etc). if we’re mutuals or friends then she/puppy/dog are preferred. but i tend to prefer they/them from strangers who i don’t know, ESPECIALLY if they don’t like me/have a negative opinion of me.

but it feels,,,, i don’t know, petty? to say that. which it shouldn’t, because my pronouns have nothing to do with my opinions of that person. but if someone doesn’t respect me in some way or is anti-me, i much much prefer they/them and find she/her offensive. i don’t know why. i never tell anyone this because it just seems much more complicated than a generalized blanket “she/they”. do any of you ever feel like this?

Genderfluid Experience Post

I figured it would make sense to post this here since it’s a gnc and genderqueer experience, so!

I’m faeflux, which means my gender flows through non-masculine & non-male genders and fluctuates in intensity. This past year, though, I’ve been having uncommon times where I feel androgynous rather than feminine, neutral, or outherine, which is new for me. I haven’t felt that way in years.

My pronouns change, usually along with my gender, and that’s broadened, as well. I used to only use she & they (note: please don’t use she/her for me), but I’ve discovered xey/xem/xeir & thxy/thxm and love them. I’ve always liked the pronouns hy/hym conceptually, like they sound cool but aren’t for me, you know? Because I’d “have to” be masculine or a man to be anything similar to he/him.

But yesterday, hy/hym & hx/hxm just clicked. Being a guy, a man, a dude, but not a capital M Man suddenly felt intensely correct in a way I haven’t experienced often or in a long time.

Usually, this is associated with me being kinshifted, since my kin is a man, but I didn’t feel shifted. I felt like me, just now with different terms, like I do when I’m a girl or outherine or neutrois or agender, etc. etc.

I don’t know what this means for me exactly! I’ve identified as genderfae ever since I found the term years ago, so I’m not sure I’ll change labels to accommodate this yet. But I’m adding new pronouns that give me euphoria. I heard the advice once to chase euphoria, not dysphoria, so that’s what I’m doing! Instead of focusing on the dysphoria I’m experiencing from my body, how I’m referred to, my clothing, etc. I’m choosing to focus on the little things I can do to give myself joy.

stripe meanings:

the wavy stripes are meant to represent fluidity in general.

the top pink stripe represents given names; given here can mean your birth name, or names given to you by others in general.

the pastel pink stripe represents the love, care, and thought put into choosing ones names.

the middle cream stripe represents self-identification, and freedom of identity.

the pastel blue stripe represents gender quality (such as femininity, masculinity, neutrality, etc).

the bottom blue stripe represents genderfluidity, or genderstaticness, as well as fluidity of the name.
