you know, it’s so funny because i actually only have a handful of headcanons re his early childhood

he’s always liked games. Games Are For Fun until he’s stuck in the puzzle and then it’s this whole thing.

mana and he are childhood friends. she’s one of his only friends, in fact. he considers mahad a friend but mahad’s honestly a glorified babysitter.

loves the outdoors. loves to swim. catches fish but always releases them because he doesn’t wanna hurt the fish.

anything related to learning how to rule kinda bored him. he was a hyperactive kid and anything about responsibility seemed so far off, anyway. he thought his dad would live so much longer than he did.

speaking of his dad: his dad loved and cared for him a lot. that doesn’t mean he had a perfect relationship with his father. his father and him didn’t see eye to eye on everything. his father would often get frustrated that atem found his studies boring.

when set got to the palace, atem assumed they would be friends cause Same Age. he offered to play senet with set and from there, Rivalry because atem kicked his ass. set then saw it as a Challenge. atem thinks they’re just playing.

Imagine being the nurse at a pokemon center and this pissed off, teal haired, heterochromic twink wearing a cloak saunters up to the counter, slams a single, dark green pokeball of unknown make onto it and just glares at you while you do your job. You put the ball in the machine and see that there's fucking Kyogre in it. You give the pokeball back to the twink and he fucks off before you can ask any questions. That was slightly weirder than your usual encounters.

reading this ask felt EXACTLY like being a nurse joy dealing with this bullshit. then again, one of them already had to deal with ash “i threw a rat at a god and the rat won” ketchum so like... not the WEIRDEST day but definitely up there
