• He expects nothing but the best from his students!
• That being said he's also aware of the issues that generally come with life and some his students more....underlying issues so he might give them a break.
• But don't think that's an excuse to slack off! He's very strict on cheating and goofing off during important lessons.
• Somtimes he'll bring his dog around for the class to play with and look after. (A hero must learn responsibility!)
• He just enjoys watching his students be normal for once.
• He's like that super grumpy strict dad totally loses it when his kids get or goal or high score on a test.
• The other teachers are sick of hearing him brag.
• He knows what it's like to be judged and pushed aside for your quirk. Which is another reason he pushes 1B to be the best.
• He likes to take his time to understand each student individually by focusing on their training specifically.
• His class doesn't get as injured as Class 1A. (Which recovery girl thanks him for everday.)
• But they do cause almost double the amount of property damage.
• And considering Class 1A has students like Bakugou, Deku, heck even Todoroki! That is a accomplishment.
• (And a headache)
• No, seriously every student in that class has broken at least one thing even the responsible kids.
• He thinks Aizawa plays favorites as unintentionally leaves behind some of his other students
• He also think the pro heros expect to much out of the students and was one of the pros that protested them being involved in the war
• (He reluctantly complied after realizing their were no other options.)
• He knows a lot about how to manage teenagers from being friends with Hound Dog.

Hitoshi doesn't know what he expected but of course Aizawa would eventually bring up quirk training in their sessions.
"No."
It's instinctual, comes to Hitoshi without a second thought and he knows it's stupid, knows that one of these days he'll have to train with his quirk, too, but—no.
He's not ready for it. He needs more time to come to terms with the fact that he has to do it, needs more time to accept that his classmates will see him using it and most of all, he needs to prepare for the fact that he'll use it on them, against them, and he's not there yet.
And he's especially not ready to use his quirk on Aizawa, unsupervised and without witnesses.
"Shinsou," Aizawa sighs out but Hitoshi shakes his head.
"No, you don't—no."
"I don't what? Understand?" Aizawa prods and Hitoshi takes a wary step back.
It never goes over well, telling adults they don't get something; it also never goes over well when he tells an adult no even when he's supposed to say yes and Hitoshi doesn't know Aizawa well enough yet to know what's going to come his way for daring to be defiant like this.
Hitoshi waits for the anger, for the rage, for there to be a raised voice or worse, a raised hand, but Aizawa only continues to look at him, expectantly, clearly waiting for Hitoshi to speak, to explain himself and Hitoshi shuffles on his feet.
"Not yet," Hitoshi finally mutters. "I should get better with the capture weapon before we get started on my quirk training."
It's a weak excuse and Hitoshi knows it as well as Aizawa, as the following silence proves.
Hitoshi can't quite keep his gaze and he fiddles with the end of the capture weapon and he can feel Aizawa's gaze on him, looking, searching and seeing so much more than Hitoshi would like him to see.
"Fine," Aizawa finally says but before relief can flood Hitoshi, Aizawa reaches out for his shoulder, gently grabbing him.
Since Hitoshi wasn't looking, he flinches at the contact and then curses himself for it, too, because Aizawa sees so much, and there's a beat of silence before Aizawa squeezes his shoulder.
"But we'll have to eventually. Either you get over whatever it is that's stopping you or you talk to me. For now, sparring."
Hitoshi dares to let out a relieved breath, and even though he knows it's not dealt with but only pushed further into the future, he gives an enthusiastic nod.
"Okay."
~*~*~
It's been two months since Aizawa brought up quirk training for the first time and even though Hitoshi is glad that he hasn't talked about it again, he knows that it's coming. It has to be, because Hitoshi is making quick progress with the capture weapon, manages to sometimes even keep up during sparring and the topic of his quirk is hanging over his head like the sword of Damocles and one of these days it's going to come down.
And when Hitoshi steps into the gym and finds Aizawa sitting on the floor, no capture weapon, no weights laying around, Hitoshi knows that he has run out of time.
"Sit," Aizawa orders him and Hitoshi does, reluctantly so.
"So I guess we're not sparring today," Hitoshi mutters, fiddling with his fingers and Aizawa frowns at him.
"We're going to talk about your quirk today," he almost mercilessly tells him and even though Hitoshi knew it was coming he tenses right up.
"I'd really rather not," Hitoshi gives back, despite knowing that it's futile, that there's no way around it, especially not if he wants to get into the hero course, if he wants to be a real hero but—he's not ready.
He's not ready; Aizawa is trustworthy, from what Hitoshi could gather in the last few weeks and he seems to trust Hitoshi a certain amount as well and he's not ready to lose that.
Because he will. Once he talks about his quirk, once he uses it and Aizawa realises how horrifying it is, Hitoshi will lose every ounce of trust he managed to build with the man and he'll probably be booted from training as well.
People like Hitoshi don't get to be the hero, not with quirks like this, and he's not ready for Aizawa to realise it.
"And that's exactly why we're going to do it," Aizawa replies, his steady gaze settled on Hitoshi.
"Because—I don't want to," Hitoshi unsurely repeats because that hardly makes sense but Aizawa only nods.
"You're supposed to be comfortable with your quirk. Accept it, at the very least. To me, it doesn't seem as if you are any of these things and we're going to have to figure out why if we want to move past that."
Hitoshi stumbles over the way he talks about them both, as if that is something Aizawa wants as much as Hitoshi should want it, as if there's still a them after this and Hitoshi's mouth bitterly twists.
And it's not as if Hitoshi doesn't know why he's uncomfortable with his quirk; he has accepted his quirk but he has also accepted that people are scared of him, that they look at him and see a threat, that they think the very worst of him simply for having such a quirk and it's almost laughable that Aizawa seems to have missed all of that.
UA might be nice and they might advertise that everyone has a chance here, but quirk discrimination is as rampant as it is everywhere else and Hitoshi has gotten his fair share of snide remarks and unsolicited offers ever since he revealed his quirk during the sports festival.
Surely, Aizawa must know that. Hitoshi had so many talks with his homeroom teacher, it must be in his file by now.
"I don't know what you want me to say," Hitoshi mutters after a while and Aizawa sighs.
"I want you to tell me about your quirk. Parameters. Requirements. Limitations."
Hitoshi opens his mouth but closes it again without having said anything because he doesn't know where to start.
Aizawa should know about the parameters, because a description of it is in Hitoshi's file. He can't talk about requirements because Hitoshi lied about those and limitations—Hitoshi has no goddamn clue, because it's not as if he ever uses his quirk and tested those.
"See, and that's the problem. The fact that you have to think about it, that you're clearly trying to figure out what you can safely say is a red flag. You should be rattling off anything you know about your quirk and the fact that you're not worries me."
"There's nothing to say. You know what my quirk is."
"Brainwash. Your quirk allows you to put someone in a state where they are forced to obey whatever you command. You can activate this power when someone answers one of your questions," Aizawa rattles off and Hitoshi bites his tongue because correcting Aizawa would be the worst thing in the world right now.
"Anything to add?" Aizawa asks, clearly noticing Hitoshi's hesitation.
"I have to choose to activate it. I can ask questions without taking control of someone," Hitoshi says, because that's the most important thing to him, and he needs Aizawa to know that, even though it's a double sided sword.
Knowing that his quirk isn't always a danger is a good thing, but knowing that Hitoshi has to willingly activate it always puts his character in question and Hitoshi doesn't know what he hates more.
Someone thinking he's always taking control of everyone, all the time, or that he's such a scumbag that he would choose to do that.
"And yet you don't," Aizawa states and Hitoshi flinches.
"I'm not activating it willy-nilly!" he almost shouts out but Aizawa's gaze stays steady and calm.
"No, you're not. But what I was talking about is that you're not asking questions. Ever. Even though it's a conscious decision on your part to activate your quirk even if you asked a question, you don't. Why is that?"
Hitoshi works his jaw because what is he even supposed to say to that, but Aizawa is nothing if not patient and he waits him out, waits him out until Hitoshi feels as if he's going to burst with words and the need to explain himself, to justify himself eventually wins out.
"People don't have a very high opinion of me and my character," Hitoshi finally says. "It's easier to assume that I am going to take control with every question I ask than to trust that I won't and to be quite honest, I got tired of people flinching and hesitating and screaming and accusing me. So I am avoiding that as best as I can."
It's more than Hitoshi has ever admitted to to someone else and it's still only half the truth because he has also gotten enough beatings to know that his questions are not appreciated at all.
"I trust you," Aizawa says, almost disarmingly honest and it's so shocking that for a moment Hitoshi doesn't know what to say. "I trust you and I think you have a good character. You wouldn't misuse your quirk."
"Might ask Ojiro about that," Hitoshi mutters because the fact that he forfeited his spot in the finale simply because he couldn't stand the thought of Hitoshi using his quirk on him still stings more than he'd like to admit.
"You didn't misuse your quirk. You used it to your advantage, just like you were supposed to do in a tournament. The fact that he felt the need to forfeit speaks more about his character than yours and in all honesty, it speaks more about his pride than anything else."
Aizawa gives Hitoshi a moment to digest that before he goes on.
"Parameters. Tell me about those. Does it have to be a real question? Is inflection enough? Could you turn a statement into a question and take control like that?"
"I don't want to talk about it," Hitoshi hisses out because this is where the lying starts but of course Aizawa is having none of it.
"But you have to. If you want to make it as a hero you'll have to talk about it so I can help you train."
"Maybe this was a stupid idea," Hitoshi mutters, looking down at the ground. "Maybe I am not cut out for this and we should stop."
He learned enough with the capture weapon and during sparring to possibly be able to make it as a vigilante without ever having to talk about his quirk.
Aizawa snorts as if he can read his mind and shakes his head.
"Kid, don't be ridiculous. You want to be a hero. You didn't put up that desperate of a fight, didn't put yourself onto everyone's radar only to chicken out now."
He's right; Aizawa is goddamn fucking right, but Hitoshi can't. It's going to make everything crumble. Aizawa will update his file, will update his quirk description, will tell his foster family about it and Hitoshi will suffer for it.
He really should have thought this through some more.
"Hitoshi," Aizawa suddenly gently says. "I trust you. Why won't you do the same?"
"Because it's not that easy," Hitoshi snaps out. "I'm in foster care because my parents were so fucking scared of me and you think I can just talk about it? I terrify people and you think I want to make that worse?"
"I'm not asking you to go out and yell your every secret to the school or the public," Aizawa refutes him, still almost infuriatingly calm. "I'm asking you to tell me about your quirk."
"Don't be ridiculous," Hitoshi huffs. "I know how this goes. You'll have to update my file after this and then it's out there. Life is already difficult enough for me, I don't need you to make it worse."
He has already said too much, Hitoshi is aware of that, he already admitted to the fact that his file doesn't have everything about his quirk in there and he knows Aizawa will keep pushing now and Hitoshi's hands shake.
Everything is going to change now and his life will get worse once again and like it so often is, it's his own fault.
"I'm not looking to make it worse," Aizawa almost gently says. "I have no intention of updating your file. It's smart to keep certain things about your quirk private and out of your file, especially with mental quirks, especially if you want to go public or underground. But I need to know the truth if we want to effectively train it."
"I've been hurt for my quirk in the past," Hitoshi admits because he has and he needs Aizawa to understand that this is a danger to his physical well-being and Hitoshi can pinpoint the exact moment Aizawa gets it.
"I'm not going to hurt you, kid. I'm here to help. And if you tell me it's ongoing, I'll make sure you're safe. But you have to trust me."
"Trust you, huh," Hitoshi repeats and Aizawa nods.
"I know it's a lot to ask, but I trust you. You're not going to make me do anything and you're not going to hurt me. Now I just need you to do the same."
"Easier said than done," Hitoshi mutters but Aizawa's expression stays open and patient.
"I know, kid, but we have to start somewhere."
And because he's right, and because Hitoshi so desperately wants to prove to the world that he can be good and a hero and helpful, and because he does trust Aizawa, he takes control without ever asking a question first.
He watches how Aizawa's expression goes slack, watches how his gaze glazes over and goes vacant and he gives it just enough time for Aizawa to feel it, to realise what is happening before he drops his quirk again.
Hitoshi tenses in preparation for screaming, for yelling, for accusations and maybe even flying fists, but Aizawa only blinks one, two times and then huffs out an amused laugh.
"No questions necessary, noted," he says with a small smile and Hitoshi dares to relax somewhat. "What else?"
And just like that, just because Aizawa doesn't seem scared or angry or terrified, just because he's not accusing Hitoshi of hiding things, of lying, of wanting to take over the world, just because he's attentive and clearly interested, Hitoshi talks.
He tells Aizawa everything he knows about his own quirk, and Aizawa takes note of all the huge, gaping holes in his knowledge and not even once does he make Hitoshi feel scared.
Instead, he gives him hope; Aizawa makes up a line-out of future training sessions, tells Hitoshi upfront what they are going to work on, what they have to figure out and test and develop and he never hesitates to talk to Hitoshi at all, never once stumbles over his words when Hitoshi asks a question and just for that, Hitoshi could cry.
Instead, he nods and he smiles and he talks—more than he has in ages—and he goes to bed that night, giddy and hopeful for the future.
And Aizawa doesn't disappoint him even once.
(And when the situation at home gets worse and Hitoshi gets hurt more and more often, he doesn't hesitate to tell Aizawa about that, either. He already trusted him once. It's almost easy to do it again.)

With MHA coming to a close, I thought I'd see what you all thought should have been addressed. There's no small amount of missed opportunities in the story, but I want to see what folks were hoping for when they started reading/watching
Quirkless Deku Fanfiction Recs Organized by Wordcount
My Quirkless Deku Rec list after like 5 years of being in the fandom, on and off. Focus on unique fics that highlight or complement Deku's quirkless status in some way, usually with strong storytelling.
It has 48 fics on it!
It first lists the outline, where fics are ordered based on length, then the summaries with my thoughts will be posted at the numbers. The numbered links will bring you to a post with the summary for only that fic, so you can bookmark which fics you want to read by clicking the number and bookmarking the post there.
It’s a list I’ve posted to Reddit, but maybe I’ll convert it to Tumblr one day.
For now, here’s the link.

So I thought this would be a common headcanon in the My Hero Academia community. Apparently not, because there is just less than 100 fanfics with the tag "U.A. Student Toga Himiko", and even less with the relationship tag "Kan Sekijirou | Vlad King & Toga Himiko". Does no one else see the vision? Because the second I was introduced to Toga as a character, someone who was ostracised for having a 'villainous' quirk, my brain immediately jumped to the Blood HERO. Here is someone who has a quirk very similar to Toga's, that has to do with something considered taboo, and he is working as a Pro Hero. Just IMAGINE the whiplash Toga would have, having gone all her life believing (being told) her quirk was evil and wrong, and then seeing someone just like her making it as a pro. Pleaseee guys it's 'villainous' quirk discrimination with the Blood Hero!! Please let Toga rethink her entire life upon meeting him. Please let her be to Kan what Shinso is to Aizawa.
I'm blaming the MHA fandom for not focusing enough on heteromorph/villainized characters in the show/manga.
BKDK AU - Villain!Izuku - Slow Burn
Before hero and villain, they'd just been Kacchan and Deku; and what that meant changed a lot in the span of ten years.
There is no scar from the first time Izuku experienced Kacchan's explosion quirk, only soft, silvery skin and a handful of freckles covering his shoulder. Izuku was almost eight-years-old, and he didn't know he was quirkless yet, but the word had been whispered already, enough times that Izuku knew what it meant. (He’s late, really, really late.)
Maybe that's what he and Kacchan were arguing about back then; Izuku's not really sure. What he does recall in vivid detail is the stinging pain of heat igniting nitroglycerin in the palm of a chubby hand and the blast of an explosion going off. It was nothing compared to what Kacchan would master years later, but in the quiet forest, it was the most frightening thing Izuku had ever lived through. Rationally, even baby Izuku knew that Kacchan was upset and wanted to push him around—he'd done it before, after all, even before his quirk. Maybe the blond was having a rough day. Maybe it really was just an accident, an involuntary activation of a God-given power made more dangerous in the hands of an eight-year-old.
Kacchan had never meant serious harm before.
Izuku has never forgotten the ringing in his ears, the dizziness as he fell to the floor. He had scraped elbows and a bump on the back of his head, but he only remembers coming back to himself as he looked up to the blue sky, not a cloud in sight on the humid summer day. It's just one more day of dozens that he shared with Katsuki Bakugou, but this one would stay with them for a long time. Izuku's shoulder is bleeding slightly, no more than it would if he'd fallen on the pavement of the schoolyard. His head is pounding, and he's too shocked to cry, but he would in a minute. Kacchan's face appears in his line of vision, and Izuku had never known Katsuki to worry, but even disoriented as he is, Izuku's assumption was that he would. Izuku was on the floor, bleeding.
But Kacchan wasn't worried.
No.
Kacchan was angry, and their story was doomed even back then.
some details abt my mha dr because i haven’t posted anything about it yet!
1. technically its a crossover dr, happening in the vigilantes and mha universe. this is mainly because i wanted to be a vigilante in this universe and also go to ua like all the “vigilante deku” fics
2. half of my dr deals with quirk discrimination, and if i were to write something about it (like a fic) it would talk a lot abt quirks and privilege
3. i had a lot of freedom when it came to america, and since i don’t want to change it too much from cr, a lot of marvel and dc heroes are there, and there’s also a shady government program that gets taken down early on
4. my quirk is kind of like ofa/afo in the way that it cant be taken away from me or erased, because its technically a mutation instead of genetic
