A doodle of @silbaa‘s super cute OC Tokki <3
(I asked for permission to draw her because I loved her design)
Tilly: Okay, so here's the thing about me: I'm never quite sure what kind of day it’s gonna be. - Sometimes I wake up and the whole day is good... And then, sometimes it’s not. And I don’t want you to see the not-good days. Not yet. Because it can be a bit too much for some people.
Margot: I get that. But you don’t have to worry, because it won’t be too much for me. No matter what kind of day it is.
I ship these two more than my own life 🐰🏹
Okay I have to wait until OUAT came back for me to see more Robin and Alice. I have tried to find fanfic of them but it's been hard. Does anybody have any links to any Alice x Robin fanfic?
Unsolved mysteries concerning Curious Archer/Mad Archer
There are things that still bother me which I needed to analyze in detail.
1. Age difference. Who is older, Alice or Robin?
Robin’s age gets pointed out at various points. When she gets trained by Gothel she is 18. Shortly later (based on the fact that Lucy is still a baby) she meets Alice in the Enchanted Forest, meaning she is still 18, maximum 19. When the curse is cast Robin is 25.
What about Alice? The only age reference we get is when she talks about the tower: On her 17th birthday she got out of the tower and when she meets Robin, she tells her, “I’ve got out of that tower years ago.”
Years meaning pural, pointing to 2+ years. So either Alice and Robin are both 19 when they meet or Alice is actually the older one of them.
2. Slow to burn or not slow to burn? How long have they been together before the curse was cast?
(This is bothering me so much! XD)
So Robin was 18, maximum 19, when she came to the Enchanted Forest. The curse was cast when she was 25 which means a time span of 6 to 7 years.
There were some hints that pointed to the idea that they actually got together shortly before the curse:
Zelena saying to Regina about Robin, “She’s got a case of young love.”
Rose Reynolds mentioning in an interview that the kiss they shared in 7x10 was their first kiss.
Alice saying to Wish!Hook after asking him to give her the letter addressed to Robin, “I don’t have one for you but you already know how I feel.”
All these things point to the fact that this letter was actually Alice’s love confession to Robin and it seems like this is a case of 6 to 7 years of slow burn. Which is mind numbling if you think about how smitten they were when Rumple still had human skin. Can you imagine them being adorable like this for 6 to 7 years? The mere imagination is killing me! XD (Now, I am in desperate need of chocolate.) *grabs a chocolate bar*
3. Robin and her glasses. Does she need them?
Either you love them or hate them but Robin’s glasses are still the most curious thing about this character.
Obviously the glasses are part of Margot, her cursed persona. But after the curse is lifted Robin wears them on a few occasions, namely, the final battle against Gothel, when they arrive in Storybrook and every following scene.
Reasons why she might wear glasses:
Short-sighted: It would have been possible that Robin became short-sighted during the time period of the curse, which is two years. There is one large argument against it, though and that’s her driving without glasses. Why would she put them on, if she needs them to shoot an arrow but totally forget about them, when she gets behind the wheel of the truck? Of course she has put them on some time during the drive but I don’t think she would be as reckless as this when Alice sits in the truck next to her. She is always so concerned about Alice’s well-being, this would be OOC (out of character).
Fashion: I think it is obvious that Margot is more interested in fashion and style and a lot more girly than Robin’s character originally/before the curse was. It might be just a style thing. But then again why pick it up and down at different occasions? It’s not connected to a certain outfit. The glasses just disappear and appear again.
Robin and Margot blending to one character: When the first curse was lifted in Storybrook some characters were troubled with having a cursed persona and their original persona which at times did not collaborate very well. The glasses appear to be the narrative device to explore this in Robin’s case.
Arguments for the last point:
In 7x19 Robin takes off her glasses when they have their memories returned but later she has picked them up again. Basically, it’s shilly-shally.
In 7x20 the glasses are absent for the whole episode but Robin and Alice call each other by their cursed names establishing a contradiction between what is said and what is depicted.
In 7x21/22 Robin wears the glasses on every occasion in every scene. It seems like she adapted and accepted this character trait of Margot.
So in the small microcosm that are Robin’s glasses (lol) we have a trail of argumentation that is very common in narrative strategy: Formulating antithesis (to and fro/contradiction) to strengthen the thesis (blending.) Actually the same thing I used writing this. :P
...
*grabs the next chocolate bar*
Okay, I guess, that’s it. XD
I’d be happy to know what you guys think!^^
Do you agree or disagree? Do you have other arguments against a point or further evidence? Do you have another unsolved mystery you’d like to have an answer to?
Feel free to reply, reblog or send me an ask.
TBH I think it was just very poor planning by the writing team lol. I don't think anyone thought this timeline through (or about time at all, really, seeing as the finale makes no sense). I agree with OMAW in their ask. I definitely headcanon about 2-3 years of slow burn followed by an actual relationship the years before the curse. Zelena's comment about young love could mean that they are literally young to her - more about their age then length of their relationship.
Funnily, we would not have this mystery if it weren’t for this small glimpse on baby Lucy through Alice’s telescope. If we would not have been able to put it into the timeline, we would not know it’s seven years. It’s that scene that is the real problem. XD
My guess would be that a) they, of course, needed Lucy to be older when the curse was cast and b) wanted to have a gap to have something to fill flashbacks into for a season 8. They would have needed storylines for everyone, including Alice and Robin. Who knows what might have kept them apart for so long?
Also they probably did not think this to be much of an issue. After all we are speaking about a love relationship between two supportive characters. To us this relationship might mean a lot but for the writers it was perhaps something else and the seven years gap does not make them any less beautifully written.
I like this headcanon and I support it!^^ And yet, I am conflicted about what is canon. ‘:D We’ll never know. ;P
