I absolutely loved seeing ace!Jasnah but that whole thing with Wit seemed really forced. Like, he’s millenia old and hasn’t met an ace person before? He seriously thinks he can change her? And there wasn’t even any build up to that relationship???? There was more going on between Teft and Kaladin than those two. It really pulled me out of the book for a bit, tnh.
But OMG, Testament! What will this mean for Shallan, having two Shardblades? We already know Adolin’s on the way to bonding Maya (maybe with some help of the Bondsmiths?) will it be something like that with her, too? Adolin: the Shardblade Whisperer
.......MR. & MRS. BONDSMITH. Fusion of two spy movie series :D
Anyway thank you for letting me scream into the void
ok, first off, i’m so sorry it took me this long to answer. (long story short i had the draft asks xkit extension and this got lost in the drafts for a while)
yeah that entire scene made me so sad because i genuinely loved that chapter. the vibes, the scheming, everything...minus the whole wit and jasnah are a thing now. also DID NOT LIKE that ‘he seemed to think that sort of thing would eventually spark passion in her’ line like MMM DON’T LIKE THAT. NUH UH NOPE. that’s not a couple on the same page about their relationship. also the knowledge that wit and jasnah...y’know....got it on....just no. genuinely not sure how sanderson thought that scene made any sense. it was just a few throwaway lines, they could’ve been cut easily, and they really took me out of the scene.
also!!! YEAH!!!!! SHALLAN!!!! no idea what this is going to mean going forward. especially because we kind of left off on a cliffhanger with the entire shadesmar arc. they’re still stuck there for now, and the next book will (probably) pick up right after the end of this one, so i’m not sure where they’ll be at the start. they might be making their way back to the oathgate in shadesmar for a significant portion of sa 5, assuming the 10-day timeline. tbh i’m kind of hoping adolin doeesn’t become a radiant, because we already have a lot of those, especially in the kholin family. it’d feel a bit like overkill. i’d rather adolin’s arc be about exploring the whole ‘reviving deadeyes’ thing w/o needing a nahel bond (that’s the technical name for the radiant bond). like...the recreance was essentially a mass genocide for the spren. i mean i know the spren did choose along w/ their radiants, but it’s still a tragedy, and it would still be a huge deal if deadeyes could be revived.
also yeah mr. and mrs. bondsmith lmao (kaladin has a throwaway line mentioning that)
thanks for screaming into the void! please come again! (i promise i’ll answer sooner lmao)
