REPOST: It’s okay not to be okay; what’s not okay is living discouraged and defeated. Mental Health is not a fad and it didn’t happen overnight. We just didn’t know many of our childhood emotions and experiences were bigger than a bad attitude or mood swings. Many of us grew up not knowing or understanding that the result of our parents pressuring us to live the life they wanted for themselves created anxiety. We didn’t grasp that growing up never knowing a parent created feelings of loneliness or abandonment. Some people didn’t know watching someone die or be killed created symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We weren’t aware that life wasn’t going to be perfect and when we had nowhere to turn we ended up depressed. Some of us didn’t know we were living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or had addictive personalities. __________ As humans we have to give the same grace we expect back. We are responsible for having compassion especially when we don’t understand why someone is behaving the way they are. __________ As individuals we have to invest and protect our mental health. •THERAPY and COUNSELING is okay. •Missing out on some events is okay. •Detatching from social media, toxic people, or uncomfortable situations is okay. •Saying NO is okay. •You are WORTHY and you are LOVED. •Success rarely happens overnight. •YOU CAN be delivered from substance abuse. When you consistently refuse to acknowledge you can’t make it alone you prematurely delay your own healing. Don’t let anyone who can’t be honest with themselves deter you from doing what you have to, to be the best version of you.
