Say what you will about skekTek but the way I see it, he's just lonely. Yeah he's twisted, but I think he's lonely and outcast at his very core. He seems to genuinely care for his pets, but he's also desperate for approval from the other Skeksis (who exclude him pretty often).
I've seen some posts saying he's abusive and the worst character, but why? He drains gelfling to stay alive and help his fellow Skeksis. He killed the gruenaks in self defense (although that can be debated). He created an army of oppressors (Garthim) but again I think that was largely to gain approval. He does keep his pets in deplorable conditions, but again, he's not a good guy, just a lonely guy. The other Skeksis have done far worse imo.
Tldr: I love skekTek he's my baby leave him alone
