SharePoint: hi! Im a repo for sharing documents to other people in your office! I live in the cloud and you can access me in your browser!

Me: oh like Google drive, that's nice-

OneDrive: Hi!!! Im a service that backs up your files from your computer! I live in the cloud and you can access me in your browser!

Me: Isn't that the same as SharePoint?

SharePoint: I don't back up your files, you choose what you want me to store, and you share those with other people! Hence the name, silly!

Me: okay well that's. Makes sorta sense

OneDrive: I can also share files to other people!

Me: you do the same thing then?

Both programs: No.

Me: so what's the difference

OneDrive: I make shortcuts in your local file explorer so it's easier to see what I have! SharePoint lives in the browser!

Me: but you also live in the browser

OneDrive: both! It's kinda this new quantum thing we've got going on

SharePoint: I also make shortcuts to your computer!

Me: what?

SharePoint: yeah! You can make a shortcut to my files using one drive! You don't have to use the browser! Accessibility!

OneDrive: yep! And they'll also go to your file explorer!

Me: but labelled as a SharePoint file, right?

SharePoint: well technically it's a SharePoint shortcut...

OneDrive: -but saved under OneDrive, because you saved the file-

SharePoint: *cough* -shortcut

OneDrive: sorry, shortcut, to me! So it's now mine! Just not the real file, I don't want to get confused.

Me: ...

OneDrive: but don't worry, the real file is still in SharePoint! But *dynamically linked* in your file browser, so you can just search for whatever you need!

Me: okay... So OneDrive, you make copies of what's on my computer. SharePoint, you only make shortcuts and everything lives in the cloud with you, not on my computer?

SharePoint: well unless you enable syncing...

Me: huh??

SharePoint: my buddy OneDrive here can sync all my files to your desktop so you can use them offline! Accessibility!

OneDrive: yep! Just remember to remove the shortcuts first!

Me: ...why

OneDrive: oh because if you sync a shortcut it wrecks my shit.

Me: why can't SharePoint handle its own syncing then???

SharePoint: because I'm not meant to be on your computer, I'm a repo for sharing files to other people!

Me: then why the hell can you sync then?

OneDrive: synergy

Me: yeah okay, what if I just use Google drive then. Seems easier, it has a desktop client, I'll just transfer the files to SharePoint that need to go to my org-

SharePoint: ohhh, you shouldnt do that

Me: why not

OneDrive: syncing to us and Google drive at the same time wrecks my shit

Sometimes actually I hate hyper-fixations. They can have their benefits, and the happy/positive feelings it gives you are very real, but I feel like we don’t talk enough about how distressing it could be. The way people talk about it online, it can be easy to forget that hyperfixation can be (and is) a serious problem for many people.

It can be a weird thing to bring up though. By sheer nature it’s hard to get people to see it for the problem it is. Like, how am I supposed to explain to my therapists that I KNOW I have other things I need to be doing and I even have other things I WANT to do but I feel like I can’t because some stupid part of my brain is screaming at me that I NEED to dedicate all my time and energy to Chrom Fire Embelm

That sounds like something stupid you’d say for a shit post online but it’s true! Ignoring the drive cause genuinely debilitating levels of distress if I don’t give in to the desire and it’s miserable. You think I want to have my entire life, my literal every waking moment, to be consumed by a video game character? NO! I do not. I want to be able to enjoy these things a normal healthy amount. But my brain is not wired to work that way. It’s like there is an all or nothing switch in there. When the switch is flipped to ‘all’ it’s very, very hard to ignore it.

It can be so severe for some people that one’s life can be literally falling apart around them and they won’t be able to tear themselves away from the fixation because of how much distress it causes to try and pull yourself away. This is not a normal thing. As soon as it starts to interfere with functioning it’s a problem. One that often needs to be addressed and managed with the aid of a professional.

Therapy, proper coping mechanisms, and medication are all great tools for helping manage the issue, but even with that it can’t be eliminated entirely. It just lessens the distress and gives you ways to manage it so you can go about your regular life. But it’s still there and it honestly kinda sucks sometimes.

I had no idea Clara was an OC! Could I learn a little bit more about her? :D

A chance to talk about my oc? ABSOLUTELY! (all the links are for character overviews i’ve written)

Okay, Clara is a half-breed, daughter of Dwalin son of Fundin and Mirabelle Took. She was an accident. Not intended at all. A result of a summer fling. Dwalin had left back to the blue mountains long before Mirabelle figured out she was pregnant. Mirabelle was incredibly independent and stubborn about the whole thing, and refused to write to Dwalin and tell him. She died giving birth, so little Clara lived in Tuckborough until she was 33, because Belladonna (who had been helping out the most) had a family of her own now and knew Clara needed a more stable home. 

So imagine Dwalin’s shock when he gets a letter from his ex-lovers sister that he has had a child for over three decades and that the child now needed a home. 

Of course, Dwalin is honorable (he would’ve taken charge of Clara ages ago if he had known), and came to the Shire to take Clara back to the Blue Mountains.

Clara made a home there, with Fili and Kili as her best friends, and Dwalin (he ends up having the biggest soft spot for her, and she uses that to her advantage), Balin, and Dís all acting as her parents. Life was good.

Until she was kidnapped and sold into child labor in Bree.

There, she made unusual friends with a half-elf from Rhûn named Athenir, who was in the same predicament she was in. He outgrew her in maturity quickly, though not in age, so they have a weird sometimes-im-the-older-sibling-sometimes-youre-the-older-sibling relationship. They were eventually rescued by a ranger named Rantin, who took them to Fornost to train them. He did try bringing Clara back to the Blue Mountains, but she found her old village abandoned, with no sign of what happened. So she returned to Fornost and trained as a Ranger for many years, until she happened to be foraging for mushrooms outside of Bree at the same time Kili and Fili were hunting for the company...

I have so so so much written for Clara and my other ocs, i just need to organize it and post it lol. She goes through so much shit, the quest for erebor and bofta aren’t even close to the climax of her story, they’re only a plot point to get her reunited with her old friends and family. 

She’s been evolving over the years (originally, she was the daughter of Beorn and best friends with Legolas lol), but now i have her into a form that i feel best writing her in.

Why do people become fans of kpop or boy bands or anime men? Why do you like those guys, when perfectly believable and interesting male characters exist? I prefer male characters like the cast of TF2 mainly because that’s what real men are like. They’re not hyper-masculinized or made to be hot, and the one guy that is, is a joke. Their personalities are more than just ‘idiot man runs around with gun’ too. I just don’t like that whole female gaze thing. I just like dudes being guys.

honestly, every single post about aaron has some asshole complaining about the fact that he cries a lot like ??? his character isn’t a fucking robot - he’s supposed to have emotions and uh??? ALSO?? he has a mental illness ?? it’s a lot harder than just “growing some balls”, fuuck but noooo, just because he’s a man he’s not ALLOWED to cry, obviously
