jatp h/c in relation to ballroom and latin dances because I said so
Luke: doesn’t have the patience for slow or repetitive ballroom but will Waltz if his partner wants to as long as it’s complex, he loves a good complex Quickstep, with lots of footwork
Reggie: has the fun bubbly personality that’s perfectly suited to social latin. his favourites would be cha cha and rumba which are simple in a way that lets you mess around and randomly spin your partner.
Alex: h/c he would enjoy jive for a similar reason he enjoys drums, in that the repetition of small intense movements would help settle anxiety, but ultimately Alex is built for ballroom, the waltz and tango specifically.
Julie: a queen of the ballroom. she wins “most elegant” at competitions and she can perfectly execute any style. her favourite is actually the waltz. because it’s what her mom and dad used to dance around the house when she was little
Bobby: A samba dancer. Only crazy people like the samba, probably a similar amount of crazy needed to deal with sunset curve when they were alive enough to be in danger when they did stupid things.
Flynn: She’d much rather dance hip hop. So she tends to lean towards the stationary latins, her favourites are actually the fast paced progressives. And she is correct.
Carrie: the showcase nature of latin drew her in and then the joy of spinning kept her there. she dances a wicked salsa or cha-cha. She also dances a stunningly elegant foxtrot.
Willie: A surprisingly beautiful foxtrotter, maybe it’s the smooth floating like motion that’s paralleled on a skateboard, or maybe it’s the way Foxtrot is perfectly designed for romantic jazz
Caleb: Latin. All of them. He’s a show off.
Nick: Not the confident dancer, but he’s consistent, he likes the latins if only because he can stay in one spot most of the time
Ray: He’s not a dancer. But he attended beginners classes before his wedding enough to not step on Rose’s feet during their first dance. He can dance a simple Waltz and that was always enough.
Carlos: Jive king. Enough said.
Rose: h/c a tall elegant romantic woman. she enjoys classic ballroom because it’s about connecting with your partner, whereas latin connects with an audience. She enjoys the swooping float of a waltz or foxtrot.
Julie gets a whiteboard for the studio.
It has many uses.
The idea was for the band to write ideas/lyrics/notes for songs if inspiration strikes any of them. When Julie’s not around, the phantoms use it to communicate with Flynn, Carlos, and Ray (when he finds out).
It’s all very professional at first. But the anarchy starts when a simple “Tell Ray I’m gonna be late for family dinner” appears.
It’s followed by “not like he was gonna save you any food anyway”
“We... can’t eat...”
“That was the joke”
Next is “if you see Carlos, tell him to stop touching my drums.”
“Reggie was mean to me today :( will you give me a hug, Julie?”
“I wasn’t being mean, I was stating facts.”
After a while, the board is filled with dumb stuff, often times things they could’ve told each other in person but decided to write it instead.
“Luke should get a haircut.”
“Can ghosts even grow their hair out? Can they get hair cuts?”
“I don’t need a haircut.”
“Fine. ALEX needs a haircut.”
“HEY!”
“Alex’s hair is cute the way it is.”
“Willie is that you???”
Drawings start to appear. Doodles of Julie, Flynn, Carlos, Ray, Luke, Alex, Reggie, and Willie occupy the corners of the whiteboard. There are ten different marker colors now, and Alex has taken this as an opportunity to show off his mediocre artistic skill.
Luke may have terrible handwriting, but Julie thinks his doodles are kind of cute.
The boys always complain when Julie erases the board, even though she’s using it for Official Band Business, the intended purpose.
The whiteboard in the studio is never blank. And even if you’re just an everyday lifer, all it takes is a quick glance at it to know that one big family is living there.
Julie and the Phantoms Incorrect Quotes
Ray: What did you do at school today?
Carlos: Learned about dragons.
Tía Victoria: Your class learned about dragons?
Carlos: I learned about dragons, don't know what everyone else was doing.
Luke: Alex, tell Reggie he's an idiot but I still love him.
Alex: Tell him yourself.
Luke: We're in a fight.
Alex: You're sitting in his lap?
Luke, coming in with a watermelon: Julie texted me saying Reggie got hurt, so I brought a watermelon!
Julie: Why?
Luke: Reggie loves watermelons *hands him the watermelon*
Reggie, teary eyed on the couch: *cradles watermelon*
hi guys did you know that ray’s name is actually short for raisin
Raisin Molina
I think the best part about Ray, is that he’s so cool with everything. He thinks his kids need to set a place at the dinner table? He’s cool with hiding it from their Aunt when she arrives. He thinks they should move to move on? He’s cool with leaving those memories for his kids. His son thinks they need to eat a French dip to rid the house of a deceased restaurant chef? He’s cool with doing that, he does love a French dip. His daughter is in a band with 3 random himbos who he’s never heard of or met before? He’s cool with that, and he knows he doesn’t understand the “hologram” thing, but he’s cool with it because she’s singing again. Ray, my dude, you’re just so freaking amazing. Dad of the year.
Hold on tho, logical reason why Ray might already know about the boys being ghosts. Luke went into her room and went through her dream box right? 👀
Her bedroom door could have been open and Ray could have seen this box, go off the shelf, placed on her bed, it open and pull out a piece of paper then be placed back on the shelf all by itself and Ray could have just seen a bit of that and been like “...alr then... imma just... ...continue looking for schools for Julie to go to...”
Co-worker: And how many children do you have, Ray?
Ray: Biologically, legally, or emotionally?
