also, I don't think we're giving enough attention that Capcom is having a female lead in a video game. In a *NEW* video game. Not a remake, not a DLC. A brand new video game.
Ok but like what was your first reaction to the new Resident Evil movie trailer(I’m thinking specifically the moment of recognizing the song but any thought you had about it would be cool)
For me the moment of realizing what the song was hit me like a wet pillowcase (and also thought Claire and her jacket were very pretty)
...so. First off, as a warning, I'm leery about live action stuff. I hate the current trend of everything needing a live action version when animated is perfectly fine. Animation is a GREAT medium. It's a creative, versatile medium which works especially well when dealing with something like Resident Evil, which is over twenty years old with multiple games and movies connected to it.
The time length of the series and the multiple games/movies attached to it are important, because all of the characters have pretty consistent character designs. When going from over two decades of character designs to live actors, things get... questionable. Often the struggle is finding someone who looks similar enough to the original characters, but in this case, they didn't even try. Don't get me wrong, the actor they have playing Leon? He looks absolutely adorable... but he doesn't look like Leon. None of them match the character designs with two decades behind them, and that bothers the hell out of me.
Between the lack of effort to match character designs (which, again, is challenging when you're going from an animated medium to a live action one) to how they're apparently changing the storyline, I have concerns. The fact that they insisted originally that they were going to try to stay close to the original seems, well, questionable at this point.
The choice of song for the trailer also seems, while hilarious, tone deaf. It's not like it's a new meme. Of all the songs to choose from, they went with that? Really? How do you mess up that badly? It's supposed to be creepy. It's supposed to be for a horror movie. Instead, fans spend the entire time snickering to themselves. Did they even try for a test audience?
Yeah, at this point, I have definite concerns about this movie. I adore these characters and I'm going to be annoyed as hell if they screw them up to match some strange, internal vision. They might do well! That bit with Leon and Chris meeting looks very cute! However, I'm going to not touch it until I hear what other fans have to say about it first.
read a fic last night where Ethan and Leon were brothers and like…it doesn’t make sense tbh but its kinda a fun au to think about given there’s not much on Leon’s family?(i think?) Because all I can think about is a “I thought you were dead” kinda scenario but like everyone but them notices theres an uncanny likeness between them. But neither of them agree until they start letting little things slip out and it’s like “ah, it is you.” And just the aftermath of wow we both got fucked huh???
so while i was trying to survive my dentist appointment on monday i kept thinking of how hilarious it would be (in a 100% loving way) if Chris Redfield was terrified of dentists too
like you have this man with biceps thicker than my skull, who punches boulders before breakfast, can and will kill anything with his bare hands, is afraid of no monster, slays B.O.W.s for a living, who has been doing that for decades and survived...
and he goes to his dental hygienist’s office shaking like a leaf and needs his hand held while they do a basic checkup
i think that’d be adorable.
Moreau Boss Fight

Ethan's fight against the third lord, Moreau, looked awfully familiar with the floating thingies that exploded on impact and the boxy environment. RE6 Haos boss fight with Chris and Piers. That's what the Moreau fight was like. Just a lot more slimy and with actual barricades.
This moment between Albert Wesker and Chris Redfield means everything to me. The way Chris physically overpowers him for a very brief moment, causing no damage but managing to slide them forward a few feet. And Wesker's response is a little tilt of his head and half smile. Why? Because he still admires Chris. He's still proud of Chris. It's very reminiscent of Resident Evil 1, where after putting Chris through everything in the mansion, Wesker's response to him still being alive is, "Chris, you make me proud. But of course, you are one of my men." At the end of Resident Evil 5, while he doesn't see Chris as a formidable threat, he's still proud that the only one who could get close enough to even try to touch him is his best man, the one that he trained and commanded. It wasn't RPD or STARS or even Umbrella that made Chris into the man he is, it was him. And Wesker's ego will always drive him to be proud of his creations even when they want to kill him.

"Looks like someone already went down. Good old Chris." Albert Wesker was absolutely obsessed with Chris Redfield throughout Umbrella Chronicles.
