Margaret “Peggy” Barber, who helped change the way libraries promote their services, died on August 25 at age 75. Among other accomplishments, Barber established the American Library Association Public Information Office, Public Programs Office, and Graphics program, which produced the acclaimed

You might not know Peggy Barber, but you'll recognize her contribution to libraries. In 1980, the first "Read" poster was produced and would soon become an iconic feature in libraries around the country. Thank you, Peggy.

Since I had the 4th off, I took the opportunity to finally rearrange some of the posters in the living room. I finally got the awesome Cowboy Bebop wall hanging I got at C2E2 in April (and got Steve Blum to sign! *faints*) up and got my Read posters to a more permanent location (though frames will have to come later). There’s still the matter of all the posters I just got at ALA (Atlas Obscura! NASA!) but at least I’ve figured out where I want to them to go now.
