Rahhh the zine is here!!!! Can finally unleash my reader amethyst design on you all (who totally isn't inspired by Amanda Detroit because my au whereever could you get that idea from ;P)

A HUGE thank you to everyone working with the @murdle-zine for your amazing contributions (a 100 page pdf?!?! for free?!!!?!?!? y'all are fantastic) and an even bigger thank you to the mods for organizing everything!! This was a blast and I'd love to do this again!!!

Introducing another of SDN’s employees: Amethyst!

Irratino’s cousin, Amethyst works at SDN because she’s got bills to pay even when Ren Faires aren’t running, and was the one to recommend him for the job of handling the ever-troublesome Z-team. This was partially done to troll him, partially to get him out of his funk, and partially because…well, the cards say that if anyone could get the Z-team into shape, it’s Irratino. Amethyst has worked at SDN for a while, long enough she knows a fair amount of the Phoenix Program’s history—but even she’s in the dark about what exactly went down that one fateful day…

Almost if not every time I make a character design for a female Murdle Character, I immediately fall in love with them. Amethyst is no exception.

Lily’s Non-Oxymorons Murdle Ships!

Done solely for fun, and because I know some people have ships outside our beloved detectives. None of these are particularly ride-or-die with the exception of maybe the first; they’re based solely on vibes and what I think is fun :P

Executive Eggplant x Executive Assistant Olive (Murdle Jr. sold me on a lot of characters, and these two are among them. Considering what they do and say in that book, I get the feeling neither of them particularly like their jobs or their boss. So I figured they’d bond over that. And then I started shipping them over that. I have incredibly lazy fanart and everything XD)

Agent Fuchsia x Mrs. Ruby (I kind of feel like they’d have a whole cat-and-mouse-esque “law officer and master criminal” kind of thing. Like, chase sequences with copious amounts of tension. You see the vision?)

Comrade Champagne x Cosmonaut Bluski (“Is this just because they’re both communists?” Well, not ENTIRELY. It’s mostly because they appear in a case together in Book 2 [for similar reasons, I HC Umber and Flint as best friends] and also this art by Nines, which a) is hilarious and b) implies a very fun dynamic. And really, most of my ships are built around very fun dynamics :P)

Chessboxer Blaze x Editor Ivory (This one is SUPER random, so I’ll explain: remember a while back, I mentioned HCing that Irratino, Night, and Umber roomed together back in college? Well, if Case 3 is to be believed, there should be five people per room. So I grabbed Blaze and Ivory to fill out the remaining two spots. Then I got to bouncing them around in my head, decided I liked the way they vibed with each other, and, well, now we have this. My brain works in mysterious ways :P)

Reader Amethyst x The Black Hat (My only excuse here is “it’s funny”. I mean, hey, if they survived Volume 3, they’re probably stuck on that mountain based on their last known locations, so. They can keep each other company :V)

??? x ??? (*GASP* A mystery ship :0 This one, specifically, is what’s referred to as a Dry-Docked Ship; they aren’t together, but I HC they used to be. As for who they are, well…let me keep a few secrets 😉)

BONUS ROUND: One-sided shipping, or “starboarding”—Seashell’s eternally unrequited crush on Irratino. I don’t know where I got the idea. It just came to me one day and I decided I vibed with it :P
