Living Room Decor, 1962
I started reading Dracula earlier this week, purely because, while I’ve owned a copy of the book for years now, I haven’t actually properly sat down and read it.
I’ve watched various movie adaptations, and had to look at excerpts before because of the connection between the American vampire panic/tuberculosis and so forth, but I never really sat down and went, “Aight, book time.”
I usually read it right before bed, but, so far?
No weird vampire dreams.
No idea if this is a good sign or a bad sign.

Helga Ancher - Anna Ancher reading in the living room, undated, oil on canvas
Helga Ancher (1881-1964) was a Danish artist who painted the local people, interiors, gardens and landscapes of Skagen in Denmark. Helga was the daughter of Michael and Anna Ancher who were central figures in the remote Skagen artistic colony. As a child, Helga mixed with many artists who had traveled to Skagen for the pristine landscapes and beaches, the translucent summer light and the artistic community. Helga was taught to paint as a child by her parents. She studied at an art school in Copenhagen (1875-78),the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1901-1904), and later under Simon and Ménard in Paris.
