Here the cover art I did for the @bande_destinee... It was the finest opportunity to tell about my never fading love for mangas, hot summer nights and pink hair! ⠀ ⠀ Thank you @massimo_colella to let me draw my fantasies 💜✨⠀ ⠀ #illustration #ink #manga #giorgiamarras #sunset #toitsdeparis #parisianrooftops #bandedestinee #paris #theroseofversailles #Berusaiyunobara #ladyoscar #pinkhair #comics #coverartwork #readingcomics #readingmanga #comicsartist (presso La Bande Destinée) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGmjUN7h5tr/?igshid=uxxdto63tfkd
I haven’t posted a #comicbookhaul pic in a while. Here are some of my recent purchases and reads. I had to support the new #Naomi comic fro #DCComics #WonderComics. I had a really profound moment when I realized that I was reading #Ironheart #Shuri and #Naomi at the same time. All very powerful women of color. #representationmatters #TheBatmanWhoLaughs is off to a fantastic start. The writing is riveting and the artwork is outstanding for the nature of the story and this twisted character. After reading #OldManLogan, #OldManHawkeye is a great read. The #JusticeLeague and #JusticeLeagueDark series are quite good. The story is just so huge. This whole Source Wall concept really makes the universe feel small. Lastly, #BlackPanther “The Intergalactic Empire of #Wakanda” series has been really interesting. It really rethinks, or recasts, the main characters and even Wakanda. I love the strong space/sci-fi with lots of references to African Spirituality. I talk more about some of the non-mainstream titles I’m reading next time. #comics #comic #comicbook #comicbooks #readingcomics #doyouevencomicbook #marvelcomics #batman #joker #readingisfundamental #supportyourlocalcomicshop https://www.instagram.com/p/BtCxQwjhbvv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=koumg6z3nevt
28.8.17 First day, new start, last year.
Songs for the Dead will be at Fan Expo 2017!
Guess what?!
Songs for the Dead will be making its VERY FIRST convention appearance later this month at FAN EXPO Canada! We'll be tabling with the good people from Toronto Comics Anthology - be there to meet the team, get some high-fives, and - most importantly - grab some goodies!
We’ll be previewing some of the goodies we’ll have on hand very soon - stay tuned!
Comics reading spree:
No one else by R. Kikuo Johnson - very nice, very intelectual, amazing use of color, very tight storytelling - you couldn't really take any bit out and preserve the meaning. Nothing really happens, although a lot of things happen, and you understand all the characters. Would recommend, would read again.
The guest in the house by Emily Carroll - amazing up until the end, which was a bit too... obfuscating for me. But the inner life of the main character? her weird, ambiguous, both cozy and disturbing, fantasies? 5 out of 5. Might not recommend, would read again.
Parasocial by Alex de Campi and Erica Henderson - I probably wouldn't have liked this as much as I did were it not for me developing a slight hyper-obsession with BG3, then watching the VAs livestream, give interviews and do conventions and cameos and live signings, all through the lens of the fans posting about this. Through all of this, there was a strange feeling of urgh, this feels weird and in the proximity of wrong and so, so monetizable. Parasocial is... about this (plot: obsessed fan kidnaps has-been-once-famous-actor). Also liked the implications of the ending, and the meta of the actor being the one who published the comic book under a pseudonym, this making the narration VERY unreliable. Good scrips, amazing drawings So yes. Would recommend, would perhaps read again.
Read Mamo by Sas Milledge. Very good, even if the tension was not always there. I would love to see the drawing style evolve into something more fluid. Would read again.
Read ”Step by bloody step” by Si Spurrier, Matias Bergara (Artist), Matheus Lopes (Artist), loved it. Amazing drawing skills, the kind you actually have to work hard for. Loved the story, even if (because, maybe) it never bothered to explain everything. Would read again. Would buy the book.
