I never like most live action superhero movies, if I may be blunt. I watched some as a kid, but they all blur together as a boring malaise. Ask me to name one detail about the MCU, or about those DCU movies, or about the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, or about any of those live action Spider-Man movies. I can't do it. It's nearly impossible. But to at least try and be fair here, I'm gonna share my memories and show how little they're ingrained within me.
The original Tim Burton Batman movie was dreary and boring. I remember none of it. I actually remember way more of Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin than I thought I did. I remember Danny DeVito's weird but amazing performance (even if all his dialogue was a big blank), I remember Tommy Lee Jones and Arnold Schwarzenegger and all the other villainous actors. Hell, I remember Alfred and Robin and all of them pretty well, too. My only complaints are that Jim Carrey freaks me out now, and that Poison Ivy and her love pheromones both creeped me out and fascinated me. No wonder I have certain fetishes in erotica, after media like that. But yeah, they're memorable.
None of the superman movies stand out, though. And most of the Spider-Man movies are a blur (although I did have some toy figure of alfred molina's Doctor Octopus as a kid, so that's something). The whole MCU is easier to read about than to watch, although I do own a few of the movies (like all my movies, I never remember to watch them). I actually remember a couple features of the X-Men movies, though. I remember loving Magneto and Professor X, to the point where Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart were the only actors whose names I remembered as a kid. Also, I think Mystique terrified me as a kid. Nightcrawler may have scared me, too. I do have vague pictures in my head of the X-Men movies, so I guess they stand out to me more than some others. I'm just gonna blame Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart for that one. Maybe Kelsey Grammer as Beast, too. But I won't commit to that.
So yeah, there's a vague recap of some of my live action superhero movie memories. If you noticed that I left out Superman Returns, don't worry. That's getting it's own post. I have to give it one, so I can share a bunch of random thoughts all loosely tied to it. Also, I think I binged Smallville as a kid. I remember none of it, but I still have a weird sentimental feeling when I remember that show exists.
