Mother Nature continues to deliver.

With more than two months left in the season, snowfall in the Central Sierra mountains of California has already reached 100% of the average for an entire year, climatologists from UC Berkeley announced Monday.

“A fresh 3″ (7.5 cm) of new #snow over the last 24 hours takes our season total to 360″ (914 cm, 30 feet)!,” the Central Sierra Snow Laboratory tweeted, along with a chart showing snow accumulation so far this season...

The California Department of Water Resources says statewide snow water equivalent is 210% of normal for Jan. 30 and 129% of the April 1 average.

The Southern Sierra is an impressive 255% of average, the Central Sierra is 211% and the Northern Sierra/Trinity region is 172%...

The lakefront city of Erie, Pa. has been inundated by several feet of snow this week, “shattering many records," the National Weather Service said.

While climate deniers might point to the cold weather as more proof of the "global warming hoax," climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe begs to differ.

"What's with all the snow?" she tweeted Tuesday. "Does it mean global warming is finished? Nope; it's exactly the opposite, in fact. Warmer temperatures are increasing the risk of lake-effect snow."

Just Barely Out the Back Door This Morning

It continues. The next wave of snow is here. As of this afternoon we’ve had over another foot with more on the way tonight. This is like Sierra Nevada conditions in Southern California, and the Sierras are having apocalyptic snow conditions and people can’t even get out of their houses.

The word “apocalypse” means “curtain opening,” not the end of the world but the end of incorrect thinking. We are finally seeing a return of the true California climate through our understanding of the new science of weather and putting it into practice.
