2022: Sallow kitten
2021: Cinnabar moth
2020: Death’s head hawk moth
2019: Webbing clothes moth
2018: Blood vein moth
I found another beautiful moth in the yard. An Internet search suggested that it is a Red Underwing, or Catocalinae (Noctuidae). It's a purposefully drag insect so that it can easily camouflage against trees.
**The second photo is a stock image from the Internet that shows the second set of wings, and hence the common name.**

I am working hard on a new series of prints, zen hexagons based on macro images of British butterfly and moth wings, and have just updated my Etsy shop with these (more to come). As an introductory Easter gift, I'm offering a 15% discount on these prints until the end of April.
Quantum Press donates 5% of the sale of each print to Butterfly Conservation, a British charity devoted to saving butterflies, moths and their habitats throughout the UK, and whose president is the wonderful David Attenborough. http://butterfly-conservation.org
