I think it’s important for me to share these screenshots from the Mod of the Tangled subreddit.
In case you didn’t know, an animator for Tangled the Series replied to a fan, who was merely expressing their love for Cassunzel and told them that Rapunzel was firmly straight and all the other characters were too.
The mod of the Tangled sub, replied to him, as you can see above and despite his extremely homophobic, transphobic and racist behaviour, which is VERY easy to come by on his twitter page, took his word as gospel and proceeded to claim it was canon on the sub to stop certain people from enjoying ships that they personally didn’t like.
When the sub users, myself included, pointed out his extreme homophobia and bigotry, and were asking them not to give him a platform, they kept saying that we were going “off topic”, despite it having everything to do with the animator’s Tangled post.
It’s got worse, with them splitting hairs, making up entirely new rules (telling me what I could and couldn’t name my post because it would cause “drama”, when that is and was never a rule), deleting comments when they call them out on their behaviour, deleting their own comments when they casually mentioned that they filed a DMCA against a friend for drawing their character “wrong”, getting increasingly more aggressive and rude, telling a user that they wish they could ban them for the fanfiction they write because they personally don’t like it and that the fic writer “makes them cringe every time they post on the sub”.
They keep referring to LGBTQ people as a political issue, despite being told time and time again that it’s not, constantly brushing the concerns of the members under the rug.
I DO NOT want any harassment levelled against this person, which was why I blocked out their details, I do not want them hurt or feeling upset and that won’t help the situation at all. I don’t mean anything bad by this post, I just want to show what this person has been doing because I seriously don’t think they should be a mod, when they’re treating their members and LGBTQ people like this. I just don’t know what we do from here.
