okay i just realised i never did a proper general introduction of oksunshine so here we go
Most of the normal album storyline takes place before everything else. In the 1950s, the CIA held the OKULTRA operations in Mary Bell Township, an american dream, conservative town but with a twist: vampire residents. These vampires were seen as deadly and worthless to the secret agency and hence had good potential for such experiments. This operation was called the whiterose project, overseen by Seymour Sonnenschein. The lead researcher of the entire operation was a man named Frank, who got a liscence for social work in the township to run a psych clinic with the hidden intention of dealing with the softer sides of the experiments. Gwendolyn, one of mbt's residents, was admitted to his office. Over time, Frank grows a sort of bond with Gwen and after spending time with vampires he starts to realise they werent that different from humans after all. eventually seymour got gwendy up for experimentation, which caused her to commit suicide. thats where frank started to sabotage the experiments to support the vampires but eventually got caught and tested on and assasinated. of course the residents didnt take this well and managed to cut off the experiments.
having nightmares and visions after Frank’s death of frank taunting him, seymour realised that the solution frank was fed made him immortal in another realm. Full of petty rage, seymour took the newest, strongest solution and killed himself, effectively turning into a stronger hallucination than frank was. for the whole plot, its just dr sunshine and frank a.k.a. Thursday trying to kill each other so keep this in mind.
the main protagonist is this university kid called Jimmy. throughout the eial storyline, its basically just how he got into drugs and eventually went out for a little drive to wrap trees. in self-ish he forgets who he was cuz of brain trauma and goes mad until one day this hallucination who calls themself dr. sunshine appears in his mind and convinces him to start a cult. From here Jimmy presents himself as "Mr. Capgras".
Later on, Thursday, curious about dr sunshines new venture, possesses adrian and tells him to find out more about about this cult. Adrian joins it with a lingering suspicion that the cult leader was jimmy out of denial and grief that his beloved best friend was actually dead. adrian would later on, on a winter evening with nothing but a whiskey bottle in hand, arrive at one of capgras' cult meetings, try to attack him but dies from hypothermia. At the same time Jimmy snaps out of it and sees adrian laying on the floor and panics and ran out and stuff and like this the cult fell overnight. Jimmy decides to start a new life in the now barren Mary Bell Township.
At one point, Jimmy visits the cemetery to mourn Adrian, where he finds gwendy, now dead and ghostly. gwen sings him a song about how one day hes going to die and from that day onwards jimmy became her involuntary guardian. theres actually a reason why gwen and adrian were innthe same graveyard but its too long
Marsha, the second main protagonist, is a survivor of the okultra experiments. she studied at the same university as jimmy and adrian (shes a vampire and you know vampires tend to stay young despite age) but got sexually assaulted at a frat party and left. She tried to seek help from doctors and therapists because of trauma but always got treated badly. This makes her to go back to her hometown, mbt to confront her trauma. There she found a girlfriend and a couple of rats who were actually hallucinations. She used whatever she had of her degree to work as a psychiatrist there. One day Thursday visits in the form of a normal client but possesses her. He makes her experiment on people for research on what happened in OKULTRA, effectively making marsha as equally hungry for information as he is.
Then Jimmy came, who made a good target for her. the storyline after this is a little fuzzy but it involves Jimmy leaning more about OKULTRA through marsha, her girlfriend and gwen, and even the rats, who he could also see. blah blah blah yeah from there i neednto write how it unfolds
