Hathair updates!!

Naïve me didn't even notice this weird shadow on my hathair, and was thankfully picked up by WhimsicalWordsmith on Discord. Seriously a rookie mistake!!!

Making a regency bonnet out of those easter hats on a whim

I started with one of these hats

And uh just unravelled it (like the curly strips) and just re-shaped it. Sewing as I went.

I ended yesterday by handstitching on the bias binding after zigzagging some millinery wire on the edge (for stability)

Today, hopefully, I can do the little fancy details like a pleated lining, ribbons etc. Enjoy!

Work-in-progress: 'Jane Austen-Bonnet'

My first attempt at making a full bonnet ( from a straw sun cap) inspired by regency era bonnets. Not at all historically correct and still lacking decoration and lining. Made from the same fabric as my jacket.

It will probably remain unfinished for a while since it's more of a winter-y bonnet and it's much too summer-y here right now.

Regency Bonnet.  Made with cotton velvet, faux silk dupioni and a sun hat that I never wore.  

I used this tutorial from The Merry Dressmaker to make it when I ran out of time to build the original hat I had planned.  I adore it.
