Will Durant (1895-1981)
Love me Loudly
It’s not that I don’t care anymore. I just don’t have the energy to show it.”
Love is a very different emotion; it opens up layers within you that you never knew existed.
Some of the best, most loving relationships in my life have come from the women who surround me. These women have shown me not just in words, but in actions, how I deserve to be treated. They’ve set the bar high, and I’ve learned to stop accepting anything less.
When my girls can pull off a 20+ person surprise birthday party just to make me feel special…
When they can book a hotel for a festival I’ve been dreaming of, and insist I don’t worry about the cost…
When they order me Uber Eats after a night out, just to make sure I’m fed and safe…
When they check in, the moment I hop into a rideshare or stay out late, making sure I’m okay every single time…
When they show up at my door with food when I’m sick, without being asked…
When they sit with me through late-night study sessions before my exams, just so I don’t feel alone..
When I get actual love notes on my birthdays, not just one liner "HBD" texts, but handwritten or heartfelt messages that make me feel deeply seen and loved…
If this is the kind of care, love, and effort my friends can give me purely out of love and respect, then why should I ever settle for less in any other relationship?
This is my reminder to myself, and maybe to you too, that love should feel safe, thoughtful, and full of effort. Anything less isn’t love at all.
